Sick of Filson.. Maybe want another alternative.. 2 packages arrived today (thank you Japan Post!).. But to start this threak, I will post the Porter x Monocle "Shorthauler" http://shop.monocle.com/travel/the-porter-shorthauler - I will attempt to do a review (if I could be fuked, may just do more pics later) later. - so far very impressed with the quality of finish & material, very different to the other Porter stuff I have seen IRL Enjoy

Like everything sold by Monocle, the quality might be present, but the price inflation is guaranteed.

I have the Boston bag and it's great as a carry-on/weekend bag.

The photos on the Monocle site are awful and don't do any of their products justice, however.

Mr Brule's a pretty slick marketeer. Yet Monocle's bags are a horrible colour. Look like army surplus. Seem over-priced, too.

That homosexual man is rather a slick willy in marketing his "look".

I've always thought Porter bags would benefit from a leather-nylon look rather than all-nylon.

Nice looking bag. Monocle puts out some nice gear, although I have a hard time justifying some of their prices. I was in their LA store a couple months ago and was ready to buy the Aspesi raincoat until I saw the $700 price tag.

Since I have no interest in Filson, this doesn't address what I wrote.

While I have no commentary to offer on the construction quality of your bag, I do know that 250 gbp is an inflated price for a canvas tote. The fact of the matter is that Monocle caters to a certain demographic (members of the leisure class in their late 20s & early 30s, progressive, single, urbane) which is interested in purchasing lifestyle accessories and doesn't mind overpaying for them; in fact, that's part of the attraction.

My axe to grind is with the company; its pretentiousness gets on my nerves, as does that of its clients.
