Do you order your usual size in the polo, or one up?

does that tape prevent the ripping from speed hooks on boots?

venividivicibj is talking about boots like these where the upper laces are hooked with "speed hooks" instead of the traditional eyelets. Even with them being smooth and rounded, they still tend to eventually catch on any bit of seam/thread/stitching on the inside of a pant leg (sometimes, I suspect, because the hooks themselves wear away at the weak points).
.

Ah, I see. However, funny that my initial confusion was that I thought he said BOATS not BOOTS.

I've never had speed hooks fray my pants, but I have had them get caught on the pant hem thread and rip it apart. I use the "body tape" to cover up the seam. It seems to work well enough.

If speed hooks can fray pants, which are expensive, why do you get them? Honest question. If I had boots and they frayed one single pair of my pants, I'd get them replaced if possible. Or sell the boots for a different version.

Only have one pair with speed hooks, learned my lesson. Plus, didn't want to pay the uptick for a single MTO to only change to no speed hooks. Again, learned my lesson

Did you miss the picture? I wouldn't sacrifice my trousers for them, but OTOH, an occasional fray does not mean the boots get tossed. Heck, I'd rather downgrade my trousers than lose a pair of boots like these.

ps - all my boots with hooks came that way; I'm not bigtimer enough to MTO them without; so in the end, I did just what I said: the boots win, roll the dice and trousers seams be damned. Although, I am careful about pairing with my better trous.

You're living up to your avatar with that remark, mrjester.

If boots don't go with your style then you've got a pretty good indication that you need to reevaluate your style.

They just don't go with my style at all. I mean, I still love you all. I just need my space, that's all.

+1 for knowing your own boundaries.

-1 for not instinctively, in some fundamental, deep-down place, desiring - nay, needing - these on first sight:
