Do you spend more on clothing or accessories?
I spend twice as much on just shoes as I do clothing.

Both shoes and watches can steal my heart, but clothing I am more fickle and less emotional (?) about.

Over the long haul ... clothing. But I've just about reached the limit on the amount of clothing I want to own.

These days it is most certainly accessories.

Here's a hint: Shoes are necessities, not accessories.

Edit: No really, I always thought shoes were a category of their own with "accessories" being belts, socks, etc..

I sometimes view it like that. Not counting shoes I spend a lot more on clothing than non-shoe accessories.

These days, clothing. I shall probably drop the better part of $2K on Friday with my buddies from Kowloon.

By way of contrast, I have spent less than $400 on shoes in the past 27 months, already being well-stocked in that department.

I don't know how much I have spent on ties, ascots and squares in the past two years. Certainly a lot more than $400 but way less than the $6,500 or so I have spent with Chan since November of '07.

Shoes are certainly not accessories (unless you live on the beach in a hut).

I see this as more of a time sensitive question however: I tend to spend more on a pair of shoes ($500 to $1K) than I do on a suit, but over time I have certainly spent more money purchasing suits, sport jackets, slacks, shirts and socks.

Like most people, I update my wardrobe every Spring and Fall as my budget allows (along with the occasional deal too good to pass up here and there), but I buy shoes on a rather inconsistant basis.

BTW, I am always looking for really good deals on high-end size US 11.5 D shoes.

You can forget to wear your watch, pocket squaret, tie etc but you'll never forget to wear shoes.
