Patch pockets on a donegal tweed suit!? That will look nasty. Flap pockets and a welt. Also, maybe a ticket pocket. I regret getting a ticket pocket on mine but that would be fine. ... QUOTE]

What's the function of this configuration?

Two hip and one ticket flap pocket, and a breast welt pocket.

I think the P&H comes in a 14 oz., too, at least for some colors.

I wimped out and got a faux tweed from the Hardy Worsted Allsport book. 12 oz. seems about right for San Diego.

Would anyone's pocket recommendations change if this was going to be an odd jacket? Also, is tweed like this particularly suited for a 3/roll 2 configuration?

As I mentioned above, I was thinking of a donegal jacket myself, but now this thread has me considering the suit option. I'm still not sure how much I'd wear the whole ensemble, but it seems like the trousers and jacket could work equally well as separates.

Mine would not. I have several jackets with patch pockets and I regret it. My tailor puts them on artfully too, you dont even notice them, and I still dont like 'em. Many tailors put patch pockets on clumsily and they look like bellows pockets. I dont think patch pockets are out of line on an odd jacket but they look too casual on a suit, even a casual suit. In general, casual jackets look better with minimalist design features.

Thanks, I had mistakenly read flap pockets as patch pockets, that is why I requested a photo of a patch ticket pocket BTW, your suit is

Nice suit! I like the topstitching. I'd probably also do that if I had the jacket made up with welt breast and flap pockets.
