OK, I've searched the forum already for an answer, so you can bash me for stupidity or ignorance, but not for lack of trying

Please recommend an AWESOME pair of jeans to me - the kind I will want to wear every day and will get tons of compliments on!!!!

I've got a fairly muscular build (can get pudgy after not working out for a while), 5'9'' tall, about 180-185 lbs, waist size 34 and inseam 32, so the average pair of jeans that fits around the waist is too long for my legs.

I live in Tokyo and have no need for the baggy, conservative American look. On the other hand, I am probably not built for skinny jeans. Either slick and subtle OR flashy and standout would be great; the fit is what matters most.

If one of you lords of style would recommend the perfect brand, model and color, I would be eternally grateful

I think it depends on your age and what you're trying to accomplish. Are you looking for something boot cut, thin leg, regular cut, etc. . .Or maybe dark denim or something a little worn looking? I think you should try on enough pairs so that you get a feel for what you're looking for, along with brining your favorite pair of shoes/boots that you'll be wearing them with.

f.w.i.w. . .I usually wear something from Tommy Bahama, but I'm showing my age.

You lie.

Edit: The guy above me, however, is a fountain of truth.

I swear I've read at least 8 jeans for fat people threads. They always start off with I've searched already and then lead to I have a "muscular" build

Given your build, it would probably be the best option for you just to go and try stuff on. If you lived in rural Kansas, some recs might make sense, but you live in TOKYO! SO, just go to any of the 500,000,000,000 amazing clothing stores and try stuff on. Depending on your budget, start with Uniqlo and try the various fits they have (2900-3900 yen), and go from there. Shinjuku Isetan, Shinjuku 3-chome, Shibuya, Harajuku, Omotesando, etc. As for what Japanese girls will like.... try shaving about 40 pounds and becoming Japanese.

I've lived in Tokyo for 10+ years and have lots of nice stuff, and I would never buy anything other than food and electronics here. Tokyo is the rip-off capital of the universe!

Isn't there a pair of magical jeans that I can just buy over the internet?

Also, in case anyone is willing to post a serious recommendation, I have a wrestler's build and am not fat.

PS rach2jlc, though my deleted comment was obnoxious, you obviously know absolutely nothing about Japanese girls, LOL

Well, I'm done. You won't buy clothes in Tokyo? Assuming you're not joking, this is the most absurd thing I've ever heard. Anyway, read the "you're not a special flower" thread and then go ask on the "i have a jean" rec. thread.

Magical jeans?

The answer is no. Fit is important, everyone is different, you need to do your research, find out what cut suits you, take some measurements, weigh the options and make a purchase. You may still have to return it for a different size.

There is no way we can say "sometimes muscular, sometimes fat, 5'9" - oh yea, there are these miracle jeans that will amazingly jump on your legs and fit you perfectly."

Let's be realistic here.

OK, well, thanks for the recommendations. Guess I'll have to budget time for after-Christmas sales IN THE USA.

And maybe we should keep this our little secret, so don't tell anyone since nobody knows this, but prices in Japan are (brace yourself) SKY HIGH.

Sure, H&M and Zara have some cheap sales, and maybe Uniqlo (which is nothing special over here), but otherwise, forget it!

I wear a lot of Brioni, RLPL, RLBL, Finamore, Borrelli, Barba, St. Andrews, Dior Homme and Corneliani, as well as D&G, Vuitton, Hermes, Cartier, Paul Smith, etc., most of which I get off Style Forum or Ebay, and the many Japanese I know who wear this stuff pay 5-10 times what I do, WITHOUT EXCEPTION.

Why don't you take a trip to Shinjuku Isetan yourself and see how far your dollars take you

Can't imagine it's any different with jeans.

I am not built for skinny jeans too, nobody here wears skinny jeans

My waist size is 34 and inseam 34, and i like Diesel Viker jeans. I recommend Dsquared regular fit jeans, great look and quality and their jeans are always too short for my leg, about 81-84 cm inseam.
