Fruity, non-citrus cologne

Hello!

Has anyone ever used the "Matrix Vavoom" hair spray? I am looking for a cologne that smells just like it, has a hint of banana, warm and fruit-like, and pleasant non-citrus. I've smelled it on some people passing by but I didn't have the courage to ask them and now I turn to this forum for help. Some may think that I could just wear the Matrix Vavoom hairspray but the smell doesn't last that long.

If you have any idea on which cologne it might be, please name it and I will try it out at Macy's or some other place.

Thanks

Don't know specifically which one you mean, but try some of the Comptoir Sud Pacifique line. They have TONS of stuff, but their scents like vanille pitahaya (pear and vanilla), Vanille Peach, etc. have a very warm fruitness about them.

I'd go with Rach, since he's the resident expert on both perfumes and fruits.

Hey, I can't help it if teh good Lord gave me a very sensitive nose and an inordinately large.... umm.... Anyway, I also thought of Masaki Matsushima Mat; Male, which has a distinct Watermelon note. Dior Dolce Vita has some apricot, Givenchy L'interdit has a nice strawberry note and Guerlain Mitsouko has a powdery peach. Nevertheless, these last three are perhaps a little heavier than you might want.

Holy cow look at all the recommendations heh, I went to check out Comptoir Sud Pacifique line today at Macy's and some fragrance shop at a mall but they didn't have it. Going to make a trip to the city and see if I can find it, along with the other colognes mentioned in this thread. Thanks and I will give an update when I get the time.

Well - what makes this difficult is not wanting a citrus opening. Right out of the gate, you're excluding a lot of common scents. That said:

is probably your best bet. The rest that come to mind are either discontinued (Cuiron) or niche: BNTBTBB Lady Boy (banana, but found across-the-pond), By Killian Liasons Dangereuses (outlandishly expensive rose-jam scent). Although: if you don't mind boozy-fruity, try Nicole Miller for Men. You may have to look for it.

The original Sonia Rykiel men's scent is very sweet/fruity as well, though not particularly citrus. It's also quite cheap when ordered online (I think I got a bottle once for $10.)

The banana accord he mentions is the difficult one, though; it's not really a scent used much in parfumery. It's a pretty overpowering scent, like strawberry, and so tends not to be used too much.

That's why I thought CSP was a good idea, because they often have a creamier, more tropical feel, even if not exactly banana.

^^^ I'm glad CSP does fruity well enough, because their Vetyver Haiti was a big disaster. Damn stuff opened with a mustard-pretzel note.

Oh yeah, they can be hit and miss. BUT, they probably have 50 or more fragrances in their range, so they're bound to have a few (bad) stinkers.

Not exactly fruity, but Creed's Virgin Island Water is coconutty and may be something you would like?
