Nice. I just placed my first order from Yoox—a shirt. I'll be on the lookout for a shipping container waiting at my doorstep.

I wish I wasn't so damn cold all the time. All I want to buy are thick wool sweaters in neutral colors. Boring. If I lived in NY, I'd go crazy with +J which would leave me with enough cash to actually cop cool items. Alas...

I'd bet more than half the forum members find straight Americana/workwear boring at this point. It's been saturated for seasons. Maybe you can wake JohnH or Robert up to argue with you, tho.

RFT--couple of Raf and Ervell SS09 cotton jackets at the local Filenes for like $150 each; wasn't worth braving the lines even to flip.

This. Too much exposure for too long. You can only get excited about flannel shirts for so many seasons before you feel the itch to search for something different. Unless you live in Superdenim, that is.

Agreed re: Americana. So what's the NEXT BIG THING (i.e. the next supremely effective mainstream marketing gimmick)? Luxe lounge/gym wear? In two years will Banana Republic be selling formal sweatpants?

I think you can always remove the 'Americana/workwear visage' from of flannel, or denim, or a chore coat, if you style it creatively. nothing wrong with a good flannel or plaid

I guess its the lifestyle+clothing style matching that matters the most.
This guy I know has been wearing Flannel + Jeans + Dayton since he was a college student and now he is a college professor. Still wears the same and looks comfortable.
On the other hand, some kids who have never touched mud in their life before would buy Red Wing or whatnot workboots and throw them out in a month because they felt uncomfortable and clunky.
