I have those in grey and they are indestructible. I've thrashed them on the streets for over 2 years and they still look good.

is tobi.com the best place to buy black achilles mids in size 46 at the moment?

$370 even with 10 percent off affiliate coupon is still quite a bit more than south willard's full retail 12 months ago

thanks

Yoox has a lot of them right now for 50%+ off (last years models), and don't forget Gilt's sale this week.

For now, I think I might have the cheapest full retail pricing on achilles, and the oxfords - which are pretty amazing.

I got a pair of spankin new white achilles size 44 I'm selling for 210 shipped within US if anybody wants them before I return them to the store. If no bites in the next couple of days then they'll just go back.

For reals? I think those look like some average Lands End hiking shoe jawnz. Pass.

Hmm. Is that a wool achilles in the first pic? Interesting, but I'd rather do the new Sperry Wool shoes for this season. The achilles needs to remain in the leather variety in my opinion, that's where it's at its best.

+1. I think that if they were to do those again, they should take a long hard look at why the MMM sneakers (the closest analogy to the Italian military) are so successful.

My problem with the Achilles (especially the lows) is that it is nearly too simple, and that if there is any deformation of the shape at all, the shoe end up just looking like a blob of a single color, since there is no contrasting sole, etc... I liked the Achilles in the SS09 perforated for just that reason, (contrasting sole, contrasting areas of perforated and smooth leather) and the perforated version in general, over the original. That said, not sure about the wool Achilles. Or maybe, it could have been a cleaner flannel finish. Still, may pick up on sale, depending on how they look on.
