It gets really scary when they're holding an umbrella in the middle. That could do some real damage.

Link to this psg drama I missed?

Serious post, to where you shouldn't read if you do not want to read a serious post:

I think PSG just doesn't like seeing off topic, non-serious messages in threads that are supposed to be serious.

My post was actually meant to express a real point, but it did so via what my friends in English departments like to call "intertextuality." I tried to signal the intertextual nature of my post by saying that PSG was a shortstop when, to the best of my knowledge, he is not. I was referring indirectly to an infamous SF post that was posted on the occasion of Derek Jeter's 3000th hit. That post expressed a cynical point of view. By treating PSG's story as analogous to Derek Jeter's, I meant to highlight the inappropriateness of such a cynical attitude, at least as it applied to PSG's case. In other words, even though I called the guy who returned his watch a sucker, I was expressing the opposite view. Of course one of the dangers of such indirect expression is that the message sometimes doesn't come through. (Or maybe the message does come through, but the recipient doesn't take kindly to intertextuality.)

I worry that on my deathbed those will be the 14 seconds I most wish I had back.

My post had an intertextuality to it what made it so that the joke was on some of the readers (of the post).
