Things you just don't get - Page 1510

I've been on this forum for 5 years and I still have no idea what the meaning of that emoticon is.

My experience over the last few years is that the levels of incompetence are relative.

USPS is clearly the worst, and consistently engages in fraud (claiming delivery attempts that never occurred, etc.) to try to minimize its incompetence.

I've found UPS to be slightly worse than FedEx, although it's pretty close. My analysis is pretty colored here by a bad experience trying to ship a Secret Santa gift (sorry again, otc) from a UPS store -- and being reminded the hard way that they aren't really UPS stores, they're just random storefronts that UPS picks up at and allows to hang a UPS sign, but disclaims any meaningful relationship with when things get screwed up.

Friends I've found it thusly: usps ive never had a problem with, ups is consistently good and FedEx is consistently shitty. Just awful. I had to call amazon and tell them to never use FedEx or I would cancel prime

I think a lot of it is regional and local mgmt and how well they train delivery people. I actually got to know my usps guy so I think that helps too.

Ha, I did the same thing with Amazon and USPS. Hopefully they're smart enough to recognize it's a highly localized thing so our votes didn't just end up cancelling each other out!

FedEx is my favorite because their pickup location is only a few blocks away - easy peasy.

I hate UPS because you need to pay money to have them hold a package or reschedule a delivery. Who wants to actually sit at home and wait for a signature only package?

UPS actually uses USPS  to deliver in certain areas.

That's like a goddam socialist-libertarian conspiracy.

I get a bunch of the last-mile shipping people these days, LaserShip and the like. They're just some dude in a minivan most of the time, and they'll deliver until like 11pm.

USPS is doing some of the last-mile stuff for Amazon now, including Sunday deliveries. Weird seeing the postman on Sunday.

All the companies do that.  My FIL is a mailman and bitches about it all the time.

I always use that as an excuse to WFH.  When they actually deliver tends to be at 8AM or 6PM.

Yeah - I've seen some different companies deliver for amazon and other online purchases. These guys don't have an "official" car/uniform, etc - looks just like some random guy off the street dropping stuff at my house

Yup. FedEx is generally my service of choice.

Then USPS, then the brown.

When I am mailing things...USPS is probably first choice.

We do too, but the motherfuckers waste your entire day by escaping you. My wife worked from home the full day because we were getting a tv delivered. She worked 10 feet from the front door but couldn't even catch the guy to get him to put the tv down in the foyer. So it sat out on the stoop until I got home mad.gif

Your TV probably wasn't safe in your gated community.
