I flew on Southwest recently and this was on the armrest in between seats. It could not turn on. I don't know what this is. What is it?

One of those in flight "radio" things that plays music from some airline playlist. Deactivated now, but no reason to spend extra money to remove it. Southwest has some fairly old planes in service. Old planes aren't unsafe (usually, they're retired because newer planes have lower fuel costs, not because of issues with the airframe itself), but they do tend to have residual dohickeys like that from the days before everyone was lugging iPods around.

Betimes I notice that my friends on Facebook "like" companies. One of my friends just "liked" Duracell. What would make a person think "Man I like Duracell makes a good battery hell I need to "like" them on the Facebook."?

I regularly get notifications from Facebook telling me "XXX Likes Insurance Company Y!" Or something, but very regularly it happens with friends who have died. There is nothing better than asking the company why they are using your dead friend to push their product.

Wow, that's creepy.

I can think of many things better than that, though. :(

It's usually only because the company is offering a price discount or some other promotion, if you "Like" their page.

I thought of that. Honestly, I think I'd rather pay full price for my Duracell batteries than have all my friends see that I have "liked" them.

What if it was a really good discount though, like 15% off?

I think it is so we have conversations like this and further promote Duracell.

Btw, which batteries to you guys prefer?

Just unlike them afterwards!

Or when they ask you to share something...my default share mode is "Custom" which is set to share things to be only visible to me.

Since I don't look at my own page, the company gives me whatever they were going to give me for sharing...and nobody ever sees it.

I also have a spam twitter account (literally... @otcspam ) that I use whenever someone is offering free crap for a tweet. I think I last used it for a free sandwich at a Corner Bakery. I'm sure my one follower loved the offer I tweeted about.

Who uses one-and-done batteries? I have an iPhone not a Walkman.

Edit - even my flashlights are rechargeable or self-powered.

Further Edit - the battery in my automobile is a Die Hard. Which is a misleading name because they actually die pretty easy, but I only have to replace them every 3 years or so.

Peanut butter and battery sandwiches rule.

Must have bananas and then the batteries must be Energizer. Their flavor is more delicate and doesn't overpower everything like Duracell or Eveready.
