Noticed as I was looking through the shoe pictorial page that EG has some obscure leathers I had never seen before. The one that really caught my eye was brandy willow. There are only a few pics on the index but it looks amazing. Also noticed the scotland calf which looks beautiful too. Does anybody have more pics of these leathers?

No pics, but I have seen the willow in person. It is very nice and would be a great choice for a Dover or country-styled wingtip.

Are the willow calfs still offered? I don't know if they are. I don't think EG offers what it used to call "Scotland Calf" anymore, although it should have the larger-grained "Country Calf". The shoe pictorials feature EGs of all ages, some in colors or materials they no longer offer.

Yeah the willow reminds me of the vintage suitcases and gladstone bags I see on ebay. Very old world. It would look great on the Falkirk.

"˜Willow' is an embossed calf, in principle the same as "˜country calf', but the pattern is different, resembling the bark of a willow.
Yes, and it is the same pattern, no self-respecting Gladstone bag would have done without.

"˜Scotland calf' is a shrunken leather with a crepe effect which stays semi-matte.

SHRUNK(EN) GRAIN - Leather specially tanned so as to shrink the grain layer and having a grain surface of uneven folds and valleys. Sometimes called "drawn grain".

Neither "˜willow' nor "˜Scotland calf' are among the leathers currently on offer.

But if you've set your heart on either of them and if you ask nicely, who knows, they might find some remnants in their store room.

Sadly, EG have proven rather bloody-minded about going back into the storeroom to hunt those remnants down.

I agree the Brandy Willow is a great color and I inquired about it when placing my EG MTO's. They mentioned there is none left anywhere in the store or factory. Hmmm...I wonder if they would be willing to make a small production of it if enough SF-ers agreed to place MTO's. Anyone know if they've done anything like that before? Perhaps I'll inquire...

I got a pair of Dovers in Brandy Willow two years ago and they told me then that I got the last of it.

Heather Gorse is another oldie but goodie you can't get any longer. My first Dovers were made up in it.
