Will be starting at a Financial Institution (think consulting, ibanking) in the spring, and wanted to get opinions on my set of shoes so far (trying to stay conservative)

So far, I've got an AE Park Avenue, in Black, AE Messina in Brown, and Cole Haan loafers that are similar to the AE, but CH is in black.

What do you guys think of the Messina?

I am thinking of adding either the AE Cameron, AE Walden or the AE Randolph... all in black.

Cameron:

imho:

skip the loafers, skip the black.

You already have the "staple" black shoe and you have too many loafers already, you basically don't need any more of either. Venture into the world of brown non-loafers.

With a suit ,the obvious combi will be wearing a pair of oxford shoes...

You can get away with classy loafers such as the Randolph models or the JM WESTON loafers models which are the most elegant with a suit...

Stay away from AEs. They are overrated and AE has been using cheaper material for their shoes over the last fifteen years. I have a pair of AE Randolphs which I bought off eBay for $50. I wouldn't have paid more.

Try some of the Italian brands on STP. Much better value.

You can get away with loafers ,especially classic ones but the oxford shoes are the right combination...

Some loafers are quite elegant and dressy allowing you to marry them with a suit without looking to geeky or dorky...
