I live in Turin, Italy and fortunately am paid in euros. Suits that cost a mint back home are actually affordable here. I think important to remember is what level of quality does a clothing maker reach at a particular price point and I speak only of RTW clothing. There are a number of great shops here and the man who for decades personified Italian style, Gianni Agnelli, was of course from Turin( we should say Torino). The tailor at the number 1 men's store, who cuts into Brionis, Kitons and Isaias everyday told me that Brioni was the best made. I have bought both, but I fall between 38 and 40 OTR in those two. Off the rack Isaia 38 fits me well and so does Caruso, who gives great quality for the price. Italians don't wear alot of Kitons or Brionis, which for them are too costly- they buy more Canali, Piombo- another great quality/price maker, Partenopea and Zegna. The young dandies are into hipper makers like Etro. I personally know no one who wears Armani, D&G or Gucci. Leatherwear: Longhi is the best or for less money Stewart. Well dressed Italians wear English shoes, Edward Green is best and for less money Church, though I find Crockett Jones superior to Church at about the same price, but here is much less publicized. Shirts, what a great country! Baba , Borrelli, and a host of others make shirt choice difficult , but hard to go wrong. A local sport shoemaker, Sabelt, makes some great looking ,well made leisure shoes.
