How much unused clothing do you have in your closet?

Going through my closet as I am putting a bunch of junk up for sale tonight and I realized that I have quite a bit of new clothing that I have never tailored/worn. One of the things that happens on this forum, I think, is that as you learn more and more, you get into an accumulation phase where you pick things up no so much for need but just because it was a great deal/forum groupthink/"a must have"/ etc etc. I now find myself at a stage where I think I know what I want/need. While not advocating a full foofing, I am scaling my closet to 6-8 sportcoats, 2-3 suits, 10 shoes, 12-15 ties while not putting a limit on odd trousers and shirts. I like my clothes to be broken in and look worn, I find that I reach for the same items constantly as I like the comfort and feel of those well used items, so why have so much junk just lying around? Anyway, here is a pic of stuff that I've had for at least a month that has not seen the light outside of my closet. Will probably get rid of some of it, need to be more spartan. Would like to see others unused stuff, I believe that in the unused NWT items in SFers closets, we could probably stock a large boutique.

I have a ton of old shirts and jeans from high school and early college purchases I never wear.

Half of the shirts I just don't like any more, and the other half are a size too big.

Half the jeans are too small because I grew out of them, and the other half are too big because of the weight I gained and lost my first two years in university.

My suits, though, mostly all see wear, but some of my new ones are going unworn right now just because it's too damned hot. I can't wait for autumn.

You should be wearing the sand colored desert boots and white/blue stripe shirt. That's just basics man.

That's a stringent reduction.. Nice stuff, I'd wear any of those.

A lot!

Maybe I'll have an ongoing SF sale since I hate Ebay.

Ed, With your knowledge and love of clothes, I just can't see you paring down to "I am scaling my closet to 6-8 sportcoats, 2-3 suits, 10 shoes, 12-15 ties"!
