I've been struggling with this for years...

what's the proper technique to get that "casual-i'm gettin my hands dirty-perfect length-cuffin because its hot out-but still wanna wear long sleeves" look?

Just roll up your sleeves and not worry about it. It isn't like tying a tie.

I noticed some people like to push rather than roll:

1. Unbutton cuff. DO NOT UNBUTTON PLACKET!
2. Flip cuff upwards. DO NOT ROLL CUFF OVER!
3. "Push" the sleeve up to elbow.

*Note: this requires slim sleeves or else the cuff will fall back down your arm, leaving you with a wrinkled sleeve and AmJack cuffs.

I like the 1/3 cuff-start suggestion. That leaves you with a tight small cuff that you can either leave below the elbow or push up.
