Hello,

I bought a top coat and just done some alterations including bring the waist in a bit. The tailor said it was okay. The coat feels great at the front. However, there are so many creases on the back. Could you guys identify the problem and give me some suggestions? I don't mind going to the tailor again if it can fix my problems. Please let me know. Thank you so much.

P/S: Please click pictures for larger size.

Source of problem: too much taken in at one (central) seam.

If you examine the fabrics along both sides of the seam, you'll notice a significant pull to the centre. Most likely the xxx has cut the fabric so there's no going back.

Next time, either alter it yourself or don't buy anything in need of altering. Good tailors don't work on alterations.

Looks to be a combination of too tight on the hips and a long back due to your posture. First let out the hip area and see the effect of how the back falls. That will clarify the balance issue. If the balance is off the back can be shortened by opening the side seams up thru the armholes and dropping the back about 1 1/2". You can determine how much to shorten the back by pinning the back horizontally across the blades, lifting the back enough to clean up the wrinkles. There may be a picture of this in the tailor tutorial page
