Hey all,

Trying to figure out what kind of tie to match this shirt/suit combo with. Picture taken w/o flash - pretty close to how it looks in person. I'm not sure what colour I should be going for to pick up from the shirt - I'm thinking I want to accentuate the red undertones more than the blue undertones.

Basically, two things I'd like some input on would be tie pattern style and colour choice. I'm thinking I need a larger pattern on the tie or a solid colour. I like paisley ties too but I think it would be too much.

Events tomororw so will be going tie shopping today/tomorrow. Additionally, what about a bowtie?? Never tried one but looks like it could work...

That's two patterns already. Shirt looks a little rustic, almost like a tattersall, which is an interesting combo with the pinstripes. That notwithstanding I'd pair a solid tie with it in one of the colours of the shirt check, but perhaps something with a bit of surface interest like a grenadine?

Yeah I am a bit iffy on the suit/shirt combo, but that is the only suit I have available to me right now and I just bought the shirt and really like it. I am thinking with the right solid tie can bring it all together.

I would not pair the shirt with the suit. Wear that shirt with an odd jacket, preferably a donegal or subtly patterned tweed. (herringbone, barleycorn, etc.) That suit needs a more refined shirt/pattern. Solid pinpoit, poplin, hairline stripes, or a large stripe in a sedate color (light blue/white).

I think I will end up switching the shirt as I believe you're right. Need to have a more formal suit for the event so it's the shirt and ties that can change - looking like this shirt is not meant to be for tomorrow.
