I like a cutaway (prob a semi-cutaway). The archetypal English look.

I buy these for all sitations - I like the sharp look of a cutaway - even in casual, to me, any other collar looks sloppy and looks wrongly proportioned.

There seems to be a thing whereby they are regarded as formal : a semi-cutaway's points also stays out of the way of your neck under a crewneck, and in general, the points don't seem to crumple against the bottom of your neck.

For me, the button-down collar and obsession with roll (in any shirt) is very American and to me looks busy.

I would say generally semi-cutaway, though tab collars have piqued my interest as of late.

Ever been to Italy?

American here. I agree about button-downs looking busy and I have never really cared for them. The "roll" some are so concerned with just looks like an oversized collar IMO. As far as the Italians, they always seem to wear them unbuttoned which looks sloppy and affected. If they like the shape so much, why not have the collar made without button holes...?

Only 6 choices? Not sure what a cutaway is or a semi-cutaway is? Without measurements on point length this is pretty meaningless. What about spread, curved, tabbed, high, mandarin, double button? Oh so many choices.
