I usually buy shoes from brands like Blokes and To Boot New York.

I just bought a suit from Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair (black) and am looking for a pointed toe wingtip or brogue that will last a while.

Not a huge budget ~150, and looking for something I can pick up relatively easily.

What's the consensus on dark brown (almost espresso brown) shoes and black suits? What sort of tie should be worn, and matching belt or no belt?

Thanks.

The gist of that thread is seldom is there good reason to wear a black suit. Nevertheless, if you are not going to return the suit, the following guideline is even stricter: brown shoes and black suits do not mix. If you do not want to wear black shoes, wear burgundy. Tie and belt depend on the circumstances.

Dark trousers (black, charcoal, navy, perhaps even grey) are worn with BLACK shoes. This is an iron clad rule.

Black is for undertakersand tuxedos. Brown shoes can be great with charcoal or navy tousers and coordinating jacket - at least in the colonies.

Woah everybody, this guy is probably just wearing a black suit because he's going to a funeral, and here we are being jerks. I know if it were my grandmother, she would appreciate the dignity and somber tone you're setting and it will surely help to keep the family's composure during these difficult times. Trying to merge "$150" with "last a while" and "brogue", I think you'll get a little compromise with all three from these shoes. We're sorry for your loss, ersatzmoe.
