It is September, so naturally I obtained a pair of Alden chocolate suede Alden Boots (Plaza last) from Leathersoul. Should I spray these with any protective solution before I wear them? Thanks in advance,

Some say spray them and some say just wear them. I am on the side of spraying first cannot hurt. I wear my suede all year and in the rain. With the spray they always looks good and have not had any issues.

+1 I've sprayed all mine with Collonil Suede Spray, havent a clue if it works as i havent a pair i didnt spray but nonetheless they all have survived very inclement weather and still look fine. I'm with Mr K i wear mine all weathers and all seasons after advice from a couple Northampton manufacturers. They informed me that in most cases suede holds up far better than calf and i have to say after a few winters all of my suede looks good.

I spray all my suede shoes & boots and love sniffing them after. Nothing like a nice Suede Protector high. When they need it I give them a going over with a damp terrycloth, let dry and spray 'em again. When brushing your suede use a suede brushing tool. Avoid those thick wire brushes as they will destroy the nap over time.

Can you recommend a good spray?

I wish I sprayed my suede shoes. It hadn't rained in months and the one day that I decide to wear my suede boots I got drenched.

If I had Aldens I'd spray. But I have some J. Crew ones and I just wear them.

Once they do get wet would it just be better to get them wet all over so that the color is the same everywhere?
