I have not worn a fleur de lys tie before, but are these pretentious at all, given the Prince of Wales link etc?

Are they worn pretentiously or elegantly?

I do like this:

And I thought it was going to be a black tie with a big ASS Fleur De Lis!!!

SAINTS!!!!!

Oh, I digress. I like that and I would wear that. Of course, down here you can tatoo that **** on your chest and walk around exposed and only get a "Who Dat!!!" in response.

We are the Fleur De Lis city, you know.

BTW, where can I get one?

New Orleans saints...I love fleur de lys and I would be proud wearing it...

The English royal coat of arms used the fleur de lys for centuries due to the French connection.

Did he claim having some French blue blood in his lineage?

My ancestors fought under a few fleur-de lys banners and I doubt they had a great time doing so...

Yes I'm just reading a bit on wikipedia about it as a very prolific part of insignia.

I felt compelled to ask, as such heritage could be a potential minefield of faux pas

The tie is from TM Lewin, and most excellently priced

I picture your ancestors are more imperial bee types.
