Just took home my first pair of Cordovan Boots from Brooks brothers. Based on my research they are made by Crockett & Jones For Peal&co for Brooks. but after careful examination of the boots I notices that some of the dye had rubbed off onto the paper and bag that came with the shoe.

Is this common for cordovan?

Should I exchange it?

Thank you for the price I paid for it I don't want to run into any problems.

THank You Guys

The boots are fine. The color you see is excess polish. C&J in particular (more so than Alden, anyhow) is known to apply an overabundance of polish to their cordovan. Just brush and buff your new boots - don't plan on adding any more paste wax for a long, long time.
