Hello to everyone!
I saw a beatiful pair of white double monk shoes from Lobb on B&S, incredibly in my size.
I would like to know your opinion whether it would be wise to buy them.

Would I get with the double monks the same effect the guy in the photo below gets with his shoes? (I mean the relaxed look)

Thanks for your advices!

If you like them and think you'd enjoy wearing them, get them.

I, personally, would only wear them in the summer. So, for me they'd be a seasonal purchase.

I have the William II in brown buffalo and love them with everything from jeans to odd jackets and trousers.

Thanks for the reply, I was going to consider these as summer shoes myself.
BTW, I know the brand, but never had a chance to try one pair on.
So, what is your impression on quality? If you have some C&J, how would you compare to them?

Thanks again

I have no C&Js with which to compare them, but they are very well made and Lobb fixed mine for free when I had a problem with the William II.

I'm pretty much a standard 10D in US sizing and have found the 9E in Lobb to be a snug, but comfortable, fit.

I have the JL William, in black buffalo and wear it with most anything, the last has a little more volume than my 7000 or 8000 JLs. I am a US 11.5 and the 10.5UK JL in 8000/7000 is fine but a hair loose in the William. In its defense I have not worn the William enough to let the double leather sole mold/flex to my feet yet.
In terms of construction they are very well made shoes, one step above my CJ handgrade in fit/finish also.

Regards.

those JL Williams are excellent shoes. i'd certainly buy them if i had the money and they were my size. i like the look that you posted as well. i would definitely buy them.

in my very humble opinion, John Lobb absolutely blows C&J out of the water, particularly in the quality of the leather. not that C&J is in anyway bad, but JL is even better.

Thanks for your opinions. I contacted the seller and if everything goes smooth, I will surely post fit pics in the WAYWRN thread (a debut!)

They sound pretty cool. A nice change from a regular white buck. It is hard to beat the shape and look of the JL William, I have a pair myself and love'm.

The JL William is a very nice looking shoe. I think you'll enjoy them with your summer attire.

It's a beautiful looking shoe, (as with all Lobbs!) many of my clients ask my opinion on buying white shoes (I run a luxury shoe valet service in London) and I have to say, I always advise against it in respect of maintenance white/off white/cream shoes are an absolute nightmare to keep clean and show dirt at the slightest excuse.

Ultimately, I guess it depends a) how much you want them b) how much you pay c)If, your prepared to to throw them, if they get too dirty.

Ignore me - hell just buy them!!!
