I shall watch that over the next couple of days I think. Be good fodder for the train. Thanks!

    The Official Wine Thread

Hi all, Not sure if this is the best place for this, but hey ho. Two questions: 1) My little boy was born last year and I would like to get hold of a bottle of something from 2015 that will be good to drink in 2036 for his 21st birthday. I have no idea if 2015 was a good enough year anywhere...

Subway and Public Transportation Etiquette - The People We Encounter

I think the laws of thermodynamics would tend to disagree.

Subway and Public Transportation Etiquette - The People We Encounter

I saw something fairly unusual on the subway today. Got the shuttle from Grand Central over to 7th Ave and on track 4, the signs on the pillars said "14th Street". As I had been walking in I bumped into someone who I vaguely recognised. Then I realised it was Chris Rock. I guess they're filming...

    Wedding Ties

I have indeed. That got shot down by my future wife. :-\

    Wedding Ties

Ha! Exactly. Morning suits. Grey striped trousers, dark grey coat and a silver waistcoat.

    Wedding Ties

Because I have 8 of them to get and the ones in my post are from thetiebar and cost $15 each, but the Hober one (which is very nice I admit) is $80 each, so $120 versus $640. Weddings be expensive enough already.

Can I trouble people for their thoughts on these ties for groomsmen? I think I like the third one the best...

    Any One for a Scotch?

I think it must have been the 2011, but I don't have it in front of me to check. Both bottlings are on the website for $349.99 I note.

    Any One for a Scotch?

Enjoy! That might very well be my favourite scotch. I got it for 215 sterling, which is about $340 at the moment in Heathrow duty free. I thought that was a pretty good deal. $300 is very good indeed.

    Cars We Drive!

Now. Question for everyone here. I'm getting married later this summer and for my honeymoon I will be spending about 36 hours in LA (on the way to somewhere a little more tropical). While I'm there I'm thinking it would be fun to rent something "interesting". Was originally thinking Lambo, but...

    Cars We Drive!

One of the partners at my work back in the UK had a 911 turbo for a long time. He loved it. Then he sold it and bought himself a DB9. Everyone at work was drooling over the thing. So pretty. A year later it was gone and he had another 911 turbo. I asked him why and he said he loved the...

    Any One for a Scotch?

If you're close to the city, take the PATH in and go to Hudson Bar and Books on Hudson between I think Jane and Horatio. They do a six tasting special of the high end scotch (lots of 25 year olds) for $49 (half an ounce of each) and the same for the middle end stuff for about $42 that would...

    Cars We Drive!

I'm not too sure how I feel about this. It's a hugely impressive feat of engineering, but I don't know that I'd want to be driving around it or walking around it for that matter.

    Cars We Drive!

Nick Faldo had one of them (maybe he still does). I saw it parked at Wentworth watching the PGA one time. Had the number plate "211 NF" - two times on the 11th and his initials. Then a scorned girlfriend took a 9 iron to it. Heartbreaking!

    Cars We Drive!

I can well believe that. I was just kidding (although my internal monologue would certainly say asshole when I'm following an SUV in traffic. They're not as bad as vans though. They suck. At least SUVs tend to keep up with stuff.)

    Cars We Drive!

In a small (or at least low) car, you can still see most of what's going on through the other cars (unless they're driving SUVs. Those assholes block everything). Small and nippy cars can be great fun though and save a ton of money. Only drawback is things like moving stuff around. They're...

Pocket Squares: A Discussion Thread, Questions, Opinions, Suggestions.....

I got five new pocket squares for Christmas/Chanukah :D, which means that I now just about have enough that I "need" somewhere interesting to keep them that isn't just a drawer. Does anyone have any recommendations for a pocket square rack? I see there is one on Kent Wang's site, but the $25 for...

    Cars We Drive!

The Aston was about 3k sterling for five days and 600 miles. Renting an Aventador in LA for a day costs $6,000 from one site I saw it on.

    Cars We Drive!

I rented this for a weekend: It didn't make me appreciate my own car any more at all. Quite the opposite in fact.
