    Collar stays

I have two pairs of MOP I got from Carlo Franco. I use them with most of my shirts. They don't quite fit some of the shirts I own (in which case I use the wide, more firm Borelli stays), but the majority of them they work quite well. They are thick enough that they won't break, but don't feel...

    Neiman Marcus to be sold

I disagree. Who is it going to hurt? And by "hurt" what do you mean? If they expand the BG franchise into, let's say, 5 additional key markets (e.g. Chicago, SF, DC, Atlanta, and Dallas), how is that going to hurt them, assuming they hit their profitability targets in those markets? I...

    A Question

Proudly from Georgia here, fellas. Parents from Western part of the state over by the Bama border. Y'all is categorically a plural pronoun. Period. End of discussion. As for the others, I remember what a former football coach said about Paul "Bear" Bryant once. "He can take his'n...

Al Sharpton's latest suit on fox news right now

(RJMan @ April 26 2005,07:04) It seems to be a black thing. Â Uh-oh. Â Paging Policy... Jesus, should I have said African American? Â I don't mean to insult or anything but certain cultures, including but not limited to black/african american have a style of their own. Â No racism intended...

    First Chan suit received

Clearly the suit is not acceptable for what you paid and what they advertise they deliver. I'm more interested in hearing how they will rectify this problem more so than indicting the original mistake(s). Many MTM type manufacturers/brands make a mistake or mess up a garment, it's how they fix...

    Shirtmaker recommendations in NYC

Over on Ask Andy, Shirtmaven, aka CEGO, aka Carl Goldberg has an excellent reputation. I believe he could probably make any shirt you'd like, and his prices appear to be very reasonable for a MTM shirt. I believe his shirts are machine made.

Pictures of new suit -- comments welcome

It's always difficult to say from pictures, but here are my impressions from the photos: The gorge does appear too low to me. I think this is because the lapels are wider, and with that lower gorge, it just looks funny to me. The shoulders look a little too wide, though it's hard to tell...

    Vass discontinuing US sales?

I would like to add one more thing about going bespoke, and I will use Kabbaz as an example (though I have not yet enjoyed the pleasure of working with Kabbaz). One of the great benefits I derive from going for a bespoke garment, and more specifically, working with a bespoke artisan, is that I...

    Vass discontinuing US sales?

If one is trying show off the size of one's...er...wallet, one would get more mileage with 99% of the population by showing off a Hugo Boss label than one would any bespoke tailor.

(lisapop @ April 10 2005,19:45) Carlo: I count at least 3 chins: Ka-CHING. Vass discontinuing US sales?

Vass is a great case study for a ton of different marketing and product marketing issues. It is possible to have an internet/catalog business that does not disintermediate your primary sales channels, though it is an issue that takes delicacy (you have to have lazer focused product segmentation...

I don't know the history of the site, but on one hand the guy says that "Thankfully however, I was never one to be influenced by the opinions of others..." and on the other hand he has taken down his website because of what other people say? I guess he really is one to be influenced...
