Just looking at the photo, this is at minimum 3 stops underexposed. Even 4. Unless you wanted the guy on the surfboard to be black. It's all in reading light and knowing how to use the meter. Possibly your shutter speeds are off and your meter readings are wrong too. Well, there's a vid on...

I like this photo, but I think it would have worked better if you cropped the bottom of the image right under the foot of the girl. There's just too much unnecessary space there.

How do you use the 398. If you exposure is wrong it must be really off. You can even practice with dslr. If your exposures are off you must be using it wrong way. They are simple devices and they are easy to use.

Do you shoot slide film? If you don't, you don't need a spotmeter. I shoot a bit of slide film, so I use it. 99% of the time the reading is the same as incident metering. Don't ever use DSLR to meter for film, especially negative film. The meter underexpose on purpose to preserve...

There are lots of options, most MF cameras have square crop. You can start with something cheap and terrible Holga, it will set you back $25 or so. But it can take some nice and moody photos. The whole lomography movement is based around them. If you want something between lomo and decent...

Gravitas, nice photos and they capture the action. You should try some panning shots, they blur out the background and capture the speed. But they are difficult to do. But that's why they are great! Thanks for the complement, composure is something that I've been reading/studying and practicing...

Easy, hand held incident lightmeter. Metered finder = extra 500g of glass to carry around and inaccurate TTL exposure. For example, if you take a photo of a white wall using prism meter, it will look grey. Next take a photo of a black wall, it will look the same grey. With incident meter white...

Thanks, 308s works great for 99% of my photos. Every single photo I've posted on this page was metered with it. If it meant shoving the meter in random peoples faces to get the light correct. That's what I did. Even for the guy with the cut-throat razor. The great thing about it is, that...

Which lightmeter have you got? I use Sekonic l-308s, 95% of the time in incident mode. It took me awhile to get used to it, but having perfect exposure every single time is something that I enjoy a lot. I'm looking around for a 2nd hand L-758d, since I want a spot meter. As incident mode...

Which bronica is it? The 6x6 or 645 format? I love square format, especially after getting hasselblad. It's a different experience shooting it and it's great for everything, not just portraits.

Not being happy with the colours from my DSLR I went back to film about 6 months ago. I love the classic cameras... There's nothing quite like medium format hasselblad or cheap full frame camera. runners that don't lift and lifters that don't run..

I think a lot of people think of weight training as bench and biceps. My lifts were 180kg for deadlift, 160kg squat and 140kg bench. My shoulder press was 90kg I think, I can't remember that one too well. Also a lot of oly training is quiet high cardio. I've to say that the guys who ran could...

runners that don't lift and lifters that don't run..

Well, you can keep fit and not do cardio. I've not ran or cycled in 10 years after 3 knee surgeries, I lift weights. I did a bit more of olympic/strength/strongman/power lifter training, they very on intensity, but all of them are easier on knees than running. My heart rate was around 45-50bpm...

Can you take another photo from further away with your arms down? Also keeping your shoulders in nutral position instead of trying to show of your pecks (as a former gym rat myself I know it's very tempting :) ) I think it will be a lot better indicator of the fit. It seems to be fine and I...
