    Avoid Baron Kay Tailors

Avoid Baron Kay's Tailor like disease. When I saw that Baron Kay was sending a tailor to Salt Lake City, I made an appointment since I needed a suit for my daughter's wedding. This was June, and my daughter's wedding was in October. They measured me, and I paid them $1200.00 American dollars...

Where to find Designer hierarchical lines broken down

I know shoes and suits and the hierarchy of quality has been discussed over and over. However, what I am asking is there anyplace on the Web where the lines of each major designer is described and delineated. Now that online shopping is so prolific, it becomes more important to know exactly...

    What hHappened to Hickey Freeman?

I am very dismayed at the cruelty expressed by several people in this thread. Compassion and understanding are integral parts of a civil world. Being mean is simply not cool.

Clothes for the Short Guy - Stores, Brands/Lines, Websites

I am envious of all you thin guys. Yet, I am 64, so there is a feasible excuse. Short of stature has been an impediment in my quest to dress fashionably for most of my life. While I have been 5 feet 4 inches tall since Fifth Grade, my weight and girth have fluctuated from 125 pounds when I...

    Caring for Shiny Leather Shoes

I have purchased several pairs of high fashion shoes that have "shiny" leather uppers in a variety of colors. These are shoes sold by Neil Barrett, Mr. Hare, AMI, etc., so they are not junk. I am unsure what polish or conditioner to use since they are not patent leather. Does anyone have any...

    History of R. Martegani

Thanks much for responding. However, what I am looking for is information about the company, their specific construction techniques, and why they can produce such excellent shoes at a very reasonable price point. Do they outsource any of their manufacturing? Is all the leather Italian, or...

    History of R. Martegani

I have read the threads concerning Ron Rider and the genesis of the marketing and sales of R. Martegani shoes in the US. However, there isn't much about who they are and what makes their shoes distinctive other then you can purchase them from Franco's and Pelle on line. Is there any current...

Whats' your favorite brand of shoe and why?

I have been on a shoe buying spree lately, but since I live in the States, it does effect the availability and cost of footwear. However, I will still provide you with my observations. 1. For conservative tastes, comfort and price point, Allen Edmonds seems to lead the pack. 2. If you are...

Cool Shoes, Paraphernalia & Desiderata - Part II

I asked for advice Mr. Fascist. It's people with your kind of humanity that have laid the groundwork for the senseless killings that have become part of the fabric of the current techno culture. Nice world you twenty and thirty somethings have created, and thanks for all your warmth and caring...

Cool Shoes, Paraphernalia & Desiderata - Part II

I was wondering if you guys would give advice to me as a new seller on Ebay. I listed some shoes and jackets and was rather surprised that most of them did not even get an offer. Unfortunately, I am unable to relist the items until I get back from Istanbul on the 6th of January. The items...

    Meermin Mallorca Shoes

I just received my Linea Maesto 10165 in black calf from Meermin. The shoes arrived in about a week and they are beautiful. Luisa and Sandro were incredibly helpful and charming. Since I purchased in stock, the shoes cost me around 328 US Dollars. I think that's an amazing bargain for...

    Meermin Mallorca Shoes

4 I am in the midst of ordering from Meermin's Linea Maestro, style 10165 which they now have in a Burgundy color. However, I can't decide between the black and the burgundy. Even though this style may not cater to your particular sense of taste,( I tend to be "outside the box," and enjoy...

RLPL - Footwear- How to recognize false listings?

I come across multiple items a week. I believe I read that just because the shoes come in a purple box, that doesn't mean they're RLPL. Sellers advertise footwear as RLPL and market the pair as having a list price of $425.00. That seems disconcertingly low to me. I have brought this to...

RLPL - Footwear- How to recognize false listings?

Several times I have questioned sellers on Ebay listing RLPL footwear that just didn't seem "kosher" to me. Since I am not the best at recognizing "treif" from the rabbinically blessed, do you sartorial mavens know how to discern what shoes are truly RLPL? Thanks much.

Cool Shoes, Paraphernalia & Desiderata - Part II

Dumb question for you experts: How do I navigate Italy's Ebay site with a passing knowledge of rudimentary English? Thanks for both the pragmatic answers and the facetiously inclined.

    Meermin Mallorca Shoes

sAs I am quite new to SF, I may have the tendency to be redundant and lacking the inherent sartorial knowledge so evident within this forum. I have attempted to order shoes from existing stock on both the Meermin and Carmina websites and have received no response from either shoe company. This...

SHOES FOR THE SHORT DUDE-What is the best shape footwear for the vertically challenged?

I actually find Alden's too rounded. The best for me so far has been Septieme Legeure on the 199 last, which is quite pointy. I think it elongates the leg which is a flattering look on a short guy.
