If your dream bike is a Triumph, why not get one? You'll most likely over pay for a Bonnie just because it's a Bonnie. Take a look at a mid- to late-'70s TR7. Super easy to work on. Parts are plentiful. And it will only appreciate over time. Much more than the Honda.

Not bad for a Hinckley. But the exhaust just ruins it all.

Those Gasolina's are nice. Definitely a low-cost alternative to the original article, Lewis Leathers' Motorway boots. I'm curious about the quality/thickness of the leather.

It works for me! My '79 Bonnie shifts on the left. My '71 T100 and '64 Norton shift on the right. Equal scuffing FTW! :slayer: And I ride in a pair of Wesco lineman boots, so they have the extra flap of leather in perfect shift lever position! Steel shank in the sole for easy kickstarts, too.

Buy an old Brit bike. Then switch off bikes each day. You'll have equal scuffing on each boot.

Hmmm...to get a non-armored jacket to fit over that armored shirt-thing, I would think the rest of the jacket's fit would be pretty bad. A good moto jacket--armored or otherwise--should fit snug all over.

Have you considered Schott? Their online/phone help is top-notch. They'll get you into the right fit even if it takes shipping a few jackets back and forth.

+1 When I'm riding in traffic, all bets are off. I'll do anything I see fit (short of riding in the sidewalk) to avoid cager idiocy.

Thick. 4mm maybe? Thick, though. Takes a little time to break in. I looked at those collab jackets again. If you can, try one on. They look a little long in the front (past your pants' belt buckle). Might not be too comfortable when you're hunched over the Thrux. You get that big mono-boob...

I have the Lightning. No armor. I've had it for years. Never really took care of it. And it's still going strong. Lewis makes top-shelf stuff. The collab looks nice, but it's got the wrong Triumph logo on it. :D Here's recent pic of my Lewis:

I love my Lewis. Best jacket I've ever worn.

True. Pricey. But I had a pair, and they're very nice. Comfortable. And offer a pretty good field of vision. Only complaint was the strap stretched out pretty quickly. Does your helmet have the goggle strap retainer on the back?

Aviators are the ones you're looking for. Buy an extra strap if you order them. It'll stretch out faster than you think. http://www.british-classics.com/Aviator%20Pilot%20T2%20Over%20Glasses%20Goggles.html Halcyons are the true classics, but not sure if they fit over eyeglasses...

Cool looking helmet. Haven't tried the Bells. I've got a Davida Speedster and won't wear anything else.

Yeah, try the starter fluid again. The climbing idle, not wanting to return to idle RPM...sounds like an air leak at the intake. Or maybe the little rubber o-rings around your fuel-air screws are brittle/cracked/gone. Lots of times, the factory fixes the pilot jet so you can't eff with it...

Nice bike. I sold my Hinckley Bonnie. I rode it while I was getting my '79 Bonnie and '71 Daytona on the road. Once those were running well, I never rode the Hinckley. Sold it to buy a '64 Norton N15. Keep searching TR.net. I know there's a thread on air box removal/jet sizes. You may...

You're running rich. Unburned gas is making it's way through your compression chamber and igniting in the exhaust pipes...pop, pop, pop. As the bike warms up, you'll notice more popping (and you may see bluish smoke from the tailpipes on hard acceleration). When it's cold, the bike likes it a...

Yup. Did that on my old '04 Bonnie. Super-easy. Took me about 3 beers from start to finish. There's a way to wiggle the air box out of the frame intact, but it was like a ******* puzzle. Had to hacksaw it. What year is your Bonnie? Carbs or FI? Best thing you can do to those bikes. Pipes...
