How many dress shirts do you have in active rotation?
7 white shirts, all FC. I have 25 or so other shirts (light blue, striped, white w/ barrel cuffs, etc) that I'll wear from time to time, but it's mainly the first seven.- Blackl3232

getting my first suits made, gentlemen!
Additionally, I can't touch my toes when wearing these jackets because the armholes are too well-fitting. That's normal, right? Buying the shirt and vest sounds like a good idea. Check ebay for the Brooks Brothers shirt...one thing to note is that the sleeves are longer than marked, I usually wear a 33.5 or 34, and my BB formal shirt is marked 32. Coat over a suit
Add another vote for a black overcoat. I think knee-length is better for a first coat than the shorter ones, and I like DB overcoats much more than SB, but I guess that's just personal preference. Overcoats are usually tagged for the size of suit they fit over...so if you wear a 40 jacket...- Blackl3232

Dinner Jacket Question and Poll
But that's exactly the issue. I always thought that this was the rule, that for summer, in warmer climates, white dinner jackets were acceptable black tie wear. How to carry eyeglasses?
Upper inside jacket pocket for me. I'll occasionally stick them in the breast pocket if it's only temporary. If I'm not wearing a jacket and sitting at a table, I guess I'd probably just put them on the table.- Blackl3232

And can someone explain the 3/2 - 3/3 roll terminology. I get roll denotes the spot the lapel ends but the number stuff throws me. 2 button suit sleeves
I have two suits with 2 sleeve buttons...they are NOS from the 60s. They both have the first button where it is normally...about 3/4 inch in from the end of the sleeve, and the 2nd button is spaced a bit out from that...about where the third button normally goes. The definitive grey suit - Cary Grant in NNW - large photos
I'm not sure how true this is, but I recall once reading somewhere that the suit was actually made of a mix of blue and green fibers, which gave it sort of a blue-ish gray appearance on film. How far is too far with interview attire?
It doesn't seem like it should make a difference, but you have to remember how important first impressions are in situations like these, and how much of that is done subconsciously. Personally I wouldn't stray too far from the standard interview attire, just because I don't see a real reason...- Blackl3232

Monk Shoes with Tuxedo?
Would you ever wear a highly polished, but otherwise plain black calf monk shoes with a Tuxedo? I might. If I had a plain-toe balmoral or another more "correct" shoe I would wear those instead, but otherwise I would wear the monks and wouldn't worry about it.- Blackl3232
