Heard back from Meccariello this morning. They said this should work itself out as I wear them. Or, if I want to speed up the process, they recommended using a shoe stretcher to lightly adjust fit in that area. Glad to hear this as I definitely did not want to try returning them. It's not really at the front so much as the side as the shoe narrows toward the toe such that the 4th and pinky toe tip touch the leather. Sorry, not sure how to explain it better.- Murphy1443

That picture is pretty accurate. They do look a bit lighter and more mid-brown (less red) in direct light. I get the feeling each pair is slightly different, some darker and more red, others lighter and more brown. I'm planning to darken the toe and work to bring out a touch more red with polish...- Murphy1443

It is a bit conflicting with the formal styling in an informal leather, but I love the look of captoe oxfords and the cross hatch leather. So too good to pass up. Think it will work very well with slacks and an odd jacket or blazer.- Murphy1443

Instep clearance is good, have no issues there. Laces close tight, minimal gap while still feeling snug on my instep. Heel is also good, maybe a touch roomy. Even across the ball of my foot they fit very well. If it wasn't for that touch at the tip of my last 2 toes they'd be the best fitting...- Murphy1443
