Realised recently that I’ve owned the Cavalry boot for well over a year but haven’t worn it more than twice or three times outside. Any ideas for outfits? (Picture from online.)

“Skinny jeans became mainstream in 2005” Wat. in all seriousness, the article would have a point if it was men’s fashion being discussed, as regular fits are a little more popular than they were a decade ago. But in womenswear, where skinny has been out for the last 6+ years, it’s been coming...

I think this is so true. It’s kind of like square-toed shoes in the UK; even though so many designers have showed them over the last few years, here they retain a perennial association with what might be termed the lower middle classes. The first sartorial lesson anyone who doesn’t want to be...

Friend bought a near-new Souvenir Jacket for like $300 on eBay recently, and having examined the tag, wash label etc in some detail im quite sure it’s real. You have to feel for people like the seller, who could have at least doubled the price on a certain other online clothes reselling platform.

He seems to have deleted his posts, which was a shame because I never got to read his reply to me! Jacno creasing is interesting. The first couple of wears take the shoes from perfectly smooth to looking six months old, and then they just...kind of stay there, while Wyatts age more gracefully...

I haven’t worn skinny jeans in weeks. Mostly I wear track pants when leaving the house casually given it’s corona season, otherwise I wear some pretty loose black cotton trousers. In winter I’ve been wearing a lot of thick normal/straight fit denim and sneakers. I’m looking forward to wearing my...

I have them and am now dreading the crack.Did you just take them to a cobbler to get the heel rebuilt? I feel like I’d at least try and get them swapped in store first but I suppose if it’s happening to all the shoes there’s not much one can do. An expensive fix for expensive shoes, though.

Skinny/slim pants are so dead that they’re all over the runway of what is widely considered the world’s most current and most famous menswear designer... Kim Jones Dior SS21:

I wear them now, but like I said earlier in the thread, not for everyday out of the house stuff. I’m not edgy enough for that lol.

The fact that it has been possible to be a fashionable man for literally the entirety of the last 20 years without wearing them would suggest that some grand hype cycle of skinny jeans is a little overplayed. Look at SS21. The Dior show is literally full of skinny looks, after years of wide...

I love my YSL flares but I agree. In two years of ownership (admittedly including 10 months of pandemic) I’ve worn them maybe 5 or 6 times, always to parties or bars with my edgier friends. Here in London I only very very very rarely see men in flares (like maybe once a month) and certainly I...

Yeah that was what, 2010, so maybe 2 years after they’d became mainstream in cities and other areas outside the light beer suburban middle aged man market.

As a longtime lurker and occasional poster the last few pages have seen some fantastic discussion. I have to say in response to VinceCompost, though, that there are two important points to consider: 1. The cool art school kids had stopped wearing skinny jeans before Hedi even presented FW13...

The Coles looked good in the store but I have to admit they were tough, at first glance, to differentiate from the 40mm Wyatt zip boots they’ve brought back for this season too.

Identical fit to Wyatts for me. Then again I’m the same size in leather Wyatts and suede Lukas, so perhaps I’m less sensitive to slight changes in last dimensions than some people who comment more specifically on whether shoes run large or small.

Has the leather changed on the new chunky 60mm zip Jacnos?

Couldn’t disagree more with this post based on my personal experience. Mount St were cold and fast, but lacked much character or seeming interest in the brand - I got the feeling that perhaps they had been there from Phoebe’s time. Bond St are consistently friendly, polite, quick to offer some...

This is true to an extent but even more than logomania it’s about fashion and style. The pieces Hedi is selling just aren’t in right now, a lot of them are mid-2000s pick up artist sleazecore. I was in Dior the other day and even for the pieces with NO LOGOs or obvious branding whatsoever, there...
