    LOAKE APPRECIATION THREAD

Has anyone used Saphir Renovateur cream on a pair of Loake Hydes? I've read that it's a no-no on burnished calf.

Offical TRICKERS shoes and boots thread

Ha. I'll give them a few more wears before I start propositioning my cobbler. Hopefully they'll loosen up! Cheers

Offical TRICKERS shoes and boots thread

Hi all, I recently bought a pair of Burfords in UK 9.5/5 in "cafe" dark brown with rubber sole. All the advice I found on sizing for the 4497s last was generally contentious and seemed to veer between TTS and going down half a size. Given that these boots were on sale at the Trickers outlet...

    LOAKE APPRECIATION THREAD

In the end I had to leave the top two eyelets free to give some breathing room, plus I think having the laces further down gives some extra body as they might look like skis otherwise.

    LOAKE APPRECIATION THREAD

Well, it's been a month or two since I got them and I'm really pleased with the Hydes. To begin with they were very stiff, looked quite square and clumpy, and the colour was rather flat, but after a few weeks of daily wear at work, they're fast becoming a very good looking pair of boots indeed...

    LOAKE APPRECIATION THREAD

Yes I had read that it was wise to use cream beforehand, but I had wax to hand and gave it a go. I have since got my hands on some cream, but will give it a while before I use either again. Cheers.

    LOAKE APPRECIATION THREAD

Hi BXpress, Never thought I'd give an update on my shoes to strangers on the internet, but the Hydes are looking a lot better now. I've given them a polish with Saphir medium brown wax, and the toe is a nice shiny dark brown, with the rest of the upper a tad lighter. Thanks for your advice!

Thanks Munky, that sounds like the advice of a man who knows his shoes.

    LOAKE APPRECIATION THREAD

Hi BXpress, That sounds like a pain - was there any indication, other than the colour, that they had been used before you got your hands on them? In my case, I think I have just ended up with a particularly dark pair. I ordered from Pediwear and they looked and felt absolutely grand-spanking...

    LOAKE APPRECIATION THREAD

Hi all, I have been a bit of a lurker here recently, in pursuit of some very specific guidance, which I haven't yet found. Apologies if my search has overlooked the answer somewhere and I'm repeating a question that has been asked before. It is a little similar to Harba's question a few posts...
