Agreed but conscious decision not to use that design from what I remember from the Facebook page feedback.

I steered away from FP because I felt it was too much of the 'uniform' that everyone wore just because they always did rather than because they'd thought out their personal style. I like a European feel to a Lacoste polo despite the UK association with the chav/casuals/footie. I've found the...

No direct experience, but equally tempted. Lorenzo (the guy behind Capirari) has also been working on a Harrington...

Seven degrees of separation.... the Solovair factory is a few miles from my home. I did a factory tour there last year..

I like that colour Rod, and wasn't aware of it before. I actually prefer it to the deep navy that sort of blends itself out whenever I've seen people wear it, whereas that blue seems more distinctive... good choice.

Like it, sharrrrrpppp. A slightly darker denim would top if off for me.... good job.

Never quite understood how the patchwork madras fitted in with Ivy style. Such taste, clean lines and rules in so many other pieces, yet that seems so odd in comparison. The story is probably in some of the Ivy books on my shelf, but anyone care to enlighten me? :)

I think the shift to buyers money going into something 'real/local/sustainable' small scale quality manufacturers is one reasons why the big volume, high street retailers are finding times so tough. Loafers look nice, nice design! I got these Lacoste Concourse casual loafers/drivers for a song...

Nice limited Harringtons in British Millerian fabric, from a small craft company in the UK called Community Clothing... https://communityclothing.co.uk/collections/menswear?page=1

Yes, I'm with you on that - the G9 style is lovingly burned into my soul by Thomas Crown ... ;) I see Uniqlo put their Harringtons on sale and now most stock has gone. In truth I don't need another - while ideally I'd have several G9s, I have one in sand, a Merc London copy in Olive, and a baby...

The Capirari Harrington I mentioned... just no ribbed knit hem and cuffs that I like in that style..

Have been looking for a new pair of dark slim jeans and have ordered Levi 511 in one wash. Looking forward to them arriving. 501s have been my staple for a long time. Any experiences of the 511?

Glad I'm not the only one that finds a Baracuta tartan a bit limiting because of clashes with a shirt pattern. Last time I wore my sand G9 it was with a deep red merino knit polo shirt... just enough contrast with the tartan but not to clash. Talking of madras, you might like the short run...

    Mod to Suedehead

Sure this has been said in the thread before but what stands out for me (from a mod background with good smart skin mates and suedeheads) is how much it's the same old uniform worn by middle aged men. Maybe its that generally 40-50 something men get more relaxed about clothes, are interested...

Better redeem myself a little. I don't know who's making shoes for Marks and Spencer these days but occasionally they seem to get it pretty good for quality, style and price point...

Ah sorry guys. Y'know I looked at the 400+ pages of this thread and the 1800+ of MtoS and wondered what gems were in there, but still dived right on in.... :)

No offence intended guys, but I always think its a shame to see a leather sole replaced with a rubber one. Somehow not what Bass or whoever intended. Must be the Northamptonshire purist in me. Or the dancer - you can't slide or shuffle on a rubber sole.

    Mod to Suedehead

Those 'half mast strides' are a 'full circle' look to me - visible in Ivy style with loafers and gym shoes, seen in 60s Italian mens style and tailoring, and both picked up by the late 50s/early 60s mods before Chelsea boots etc appeared when the look became more mainstream in the mid 60s. Still...
