    Scent/Fragrance of the Day thread

My go-to Malle's are both Dominique Ropion scents...the beguiling POAL and the gorgeous Carnal Flower . But I wouldn't consider it an everyday scent. At least not for a man.

Why do I still have belly fat?

You are storing excess calories as fat. Switch your metabolism into ketosis and it should burn that excess fat off fairly quick. Maintain it by being careful with your diet (lots of carbs AND fats are not good...pick one fuel soarce and ditch the other).

What stereo(s) do you listen to? What do you want?

As usual, amp synergy is so important. My big Apogee ribbons have an old school Classes DR-3 running them (an excellent match) and the 4 ohm Metals seem to love its massive current and stability (considering it only has 25 watts).

What stereo(s) do you listen to? What do you want?

Aren't the Tribe series a move down from the Element series....what prompted you to switch? I can see the Metal being a bit overpowering in a small room. I am at a bit of an impasse as to what speakers to keep. Besides the Metals I just acquired, I also have Apogee Duetta's, Tannoy Monitor...

What stereo(s) do you listen to? What do you want?

On a whim, I picked up a pair of second hand Totem Metal (Element series) that were priced too good to pass up and figured I would just flip them for a quick profit, as Totem is such a fanboy speaker around here (I flipped a pair of Arro's a while back and didn't think they were all that). I...

What stereo(s) do you listen to? What do you want?

Ultimately, I want to have 4 monoblocks (Classe DR-3) and an active crossover for the Apogee Duettas. My dedicated 2-channel audio system has an honoured place in my living room, which has been curated along with all the art, ceramics, glass, design, etc. This is easier than you think without...

What stereo(s) do you listen to? What do you want?

If you are mixing amps in a passive bi-amping situation as you are, dedicating the better amp to the more difficult load (the bass), then you will (probably) get a noticeable improvement in treble response, as the that amp is not straining to produce bass and more power on the bass will result...

What stereo(s) do you listen to? What do you want?

That's not mine...I just pulled those pics off the internet. Just recently bought mine locally here in Toronto. It replaced a very nice Accuphase pre that also has a very nice phono stage. But the DR-7 matches very well with my DR-3 amp (naturally). I've just gone back to SS after a...

What stereo(s) do you listen to? What do you want?

How many capacitance and resistance settings there are doesn't matter...only one is ever part of the circuit at any one time. Changing your pre every time you change cartridges is not practical. Any phono stage can have whatever loading you want by simply changing the necessary capacitor...

What stereo(s) do you listen to? What do you want?

Just curious...not that the Kube is the same thing, but doesn't it partially act as a room equalization device? Not to sidetrack too much, but the 107 always intrigued me as one of those 80's reference flagship speakers (along with the 801's) that can be a lot of bang for buck these days...

What stereo(s) do you listen to? What do you want?

They also make some quite awful sounding wireless active speakers that people seem to be very impressed with. I fear this is the "way of the future" Habitant is referring to. I find this stuff lifestyle product, rather than hi fi.

What stereo(s) do you listen to? What do you want?

Good thing I have ears. Sounds like a Trump supporter. There's merit and pitfalls in all mediums. I have no desire to "pick a side", which is why I indulge in digital, vinyl, cassette tape, analogue FM broadcast and 1/4" 2-track 15 IPS tape. One thing is certain, the cheapest and most...

What stereo(s) do you listen to? What do you want?

Op amps have always been available. Good results can be had regardless of the topology chosen. It's overall design and build quality that will determine sound qualities, as well as how well it matches your cartridge. How good is the power supply? Cartridge loading options? Headamp or...

What stereo(s) do you listen to? What do you want?

I really don't know the source of your opinion, but like I said, it sounds more anecdotal rather than through direct comparison (as Accuphase is difficult to beat dollar-for-dollar). And you use the term "Japanese" like it represents a certain sound or level of quality. Accuphase is a...

What stereo(s) do you listen to? What do you want?

I wouldn't say that. They are just a clique in the hi fi community. I've listened to the standard LP12/NAP-NAC/LS35A combo and I understand the appeal. Some people find that synergy the best and have no interest in anything beyond that. I on the other hand, am a bit less formulaic and...

What stereo(s) do you listen to? What do you want?

That was the golden age of audio. I never bought anything from a big box store...you bought from one of your local independant hi fi stores, of which there was plenty (and now there are very few). I practically lived at Brack Electronics here in TO. They also had a huge trade-in section...

What stereo(s) do you listen to? What do you want?

The one guy you encountered is just too isolated and anecdotal to support your theory. I'm in Toronto and cruise Canuckaudiomart on a regular basis. Accuphase isn't a common brand showing up on the used market at all. It may get snapped up because for that reason...plus they offer great...

What stereo(s) do you listen to? What do you want?

Considering your Linn, Creek, Sugden, Naim suggestions, I think I know the type...all that "prat" nonsense and explains the completely unsubstantiated anti-Japanese stereotyping and poo-pooing. I owned a Nait 1....it's a cute little toy but was inadequate in every way....fastest thing I...

What stereo(s) do you listen to? What do you want?

Plenty of fantastic integrated amps from the mid 80's with excellent phono stages (MC included) to be had in that price range. Back when cds hadn't become popular, good phono stages were usually not separate components, but part of high end preamps and integrated amps. Plenty to choose from...
