full canvas, half/quarter lining for summer tailoring

Thinking of adding to my summer tailoring wardrobe and wanted to hear from others about half vs quarter lining and then in particular whether a half/full canvas is a worthwhile addition to a summer weight/weave fabric or is it a little incongruous to have a heavier or structured chest with a...

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

Thinking of having a balmacaan made in solid charcoal and debating fabric types and weights. live in canada where it can get quite cold, but dont want to go overkill with a 28oz fabric. what is everyone's take on 15oz vs 18oz. or should i be looking heavier? I've also been considering the loro...

Dacks and other Canadian shoe brands

How did these turn out? I ordered a pair but ended up returning them. Significant loose grain on one of the boots. Not normally very picky buy you could feel the outer layer floating above the rest of the hide. The good boot was gorgeous, though!

Agree. I’m not sure if the insole is present on the service boots. May just be a thinner sole. It’s the combo of the foam insole/midsole plus the vibram gumlite that makes the Ellison so comfy.

Rimowa - Anyone Have Experience With the Limbo or Topas?

Second this. I owned three topas, the large suitcase, medium suitcase, and sports trunk. Briggs and Riley or Travelpro Platiunum Elite more functional and cheaper with better warranty. Bottom line, rimowa is too expensive, but moreover too HEAVY for the capacity.

Boots made by Russell Moccasin Company -- experiences

Saw this thread bumped and thought I would weigh in. Ordered a pair of penny loafers and walking mocs in CxL in September 2018. Shoes arrived sometime in March 2019. The company was not responsive at all via email but would always answer the phone. For a little while I had no acknowledgement...

Don’t waste your money. Any traveling tailor can’t fit in enough fittings to make it worthwhile. Furthermore it’s just salespeople traveling so the measurements and markings are never communicated accurately to the shop.

It's hard to find good quality, made in Canada clothing. This is made in Canada (montreal) and full canvas. Even harder to find at this price point. If it fits, I would buy it. If you want to save another 5-10% you can try to buy used gift cards at a discount. DO IT!
