The rise on the petit standards is comically low and people are sizing down far too much to get a really skinny leg running into all sorts of issues. The pns has it already done for you so by going closer to your reg size and with a more respectable top block you don't have to go through months...- willis88

I think I can imagine the look they're going for on men. For more mainstream I think they'd look pretty good with a chunky belt if normal Apc belt loops would allow. If they're for women though they need to have smaller sizes available than 27/28 as these come up very large on the waist- willis88

I know i was looking for a higher rise but these Low Standards are insane. Tbh, I would buy if they came in sizes below 28 which is too big for me in this model. The thighs look too loose because the waist is hanging down my backside. But the leg would be a pretty good slim fit in the right...- willis88

sorry for poor quality but fwiw the rise of the petit new standard is the same as the new standard which i would classify as mid rise. Not as roomy obviously, particularly in the seat, due to the differing legs but they're definitely a more comfortable fit than the petits. I'm normally a 28-29...- willis88

Tbh I've given up on what the retailers say and the pns is a particular awkward one. Eg. Oi Polloi tell us they're low rise, Mr Porter say they mid and Oki-ni go as far as to say they actually have a high rise. I assumed they were just the ps with more room in the top but after going with my ps...- willis88

With normal everyday wear they shouldn't really stink but it depends what you do in them. My last pair were fine for 8 months til summer when i started mowing the lawn, did a few bbqs, sat on stoney beach.. It wasnt a projection smell (apparently) but when i sniffed the denim it was pretty...- willis88

I'm tempted but its all to do with where i want them to sit. I can hoist up the 28s to my comfortable normal waist and its great that theres no ******** on show but a size down will only force me to wear them lower. Might return them while i still can and search for a similar cut/weight brand...- willis88

thanks gents. I'm hoping it's different rules of stretch this time as I'm going for more of a straight look rather than slim/skinny which I've usually gone for. Main concern is the crotch area going saggy held up by a tightly fastened belt. Reminds me of the days when i sized up on jeans to...- willis88

I ordered a pair of New Standards in a 28 (my natural waist is about 30/31" and usual jeans size is 28), and they fit pretty perfect and look exactly how i want them to. Problem is they feel like a normal pair of jeans in top block but just a tad tighter in the waist, although i can button up...- willis88

Definitely try the size up and if they don't work stick to your ps or carry on searching. Just two buttons even on the initial wear is just wrong- willis88

Not sure if thats relevant really as everyones proportions are different, but I think its safe to say that the pns isn't the option if you're looking for something roomier than the ps- willis88

Yep. Tbh I'm over the whole low rise thing and just want to have a secure fit sitting higher on the waist, place my balls where I want them without them being visible or squashed.. Ordered a pair from End to see what they're like. From the pics they're comparable to the ones on apc website...- willis88

Has anyone tried the LOW standard yet? So much discrepancy between retailers. Some call it a petit low standard and say it has a low rise. Mr Porter says it has a mid rise but looks like a low rise in the pics. Apc say it has a "rather high waist"..- willis88

I would see how the 34 fits or maybe look at a different style. See wear the button flies are stretching out? That will get worse as the waist stretches and sags down. Also the bare stitching you can see on the thighs will take a beating when you sit down or climb stairs. The crotch just...- willis88

I have them in a 26 and want to replace them for a 27 now. They've started to sag which is putting a strain on the second button as opposed to the waistband and the button flies are looking bad. If I keep them up with a belt, I realise how much my balls are visible now that the denim has softened.- willis88
