Most excellent, thanks. I'm assuming that the old sole is removed and new sole is re-stiched through the existing holes. So quality of the work would be pretty important as it can be seen from above.

I was looking at some good boots from a UK maker recently. They were from C&J and had dainite soles. Wondered, what do you fine gentlemen do when they need to be resoled? I'm sort of reticent to send back to the maker when the time comes, given cost and risk of loss during international...

There is also "John K Tailoring" on Magill Rd. He says he is one of only two full proper tailors in Adelaide. I've only used them for alterations and repairs, which were very reasonable price. Been meaning to try a full suit at some point. But he says time is running out as he's about 70. They...

Proper Cloth - Official Affiliate Thread

So I think I've got my chino/jeans measurements refined sufficiently to suit my needs. But if I wanted trousers/dress pants, how should I change the measurements? I sort of assume slightly looser fit would be in order. What should be altered?

    Paul Sargent v C&J

While I haven't purchased any C&J I have been looking. If the Moores fit my foot well, what would be the recommended lasts in CJ?

Are fabrics washed prior to making? Just thinking if this is a way to minimise the shrinking issue.

Paul Sargent (formerly Alfred Sargent) Appreciation Thread

How do you know this? Obviously nothing is mentioned on the website. Just asking so I can figure it out myself for my next pair.

Looks great. How did you select measurements: measure existing trousers? use their algo? guess? Anyway result looks good.

Proper Cloth - Official Affiliate Thread

I noticed on the website that there are a few ways to capture trouser measurements. What approach have people used to get the best fit? What's the difference between dress pants measurements and casual pants? Always happy to learn from others experiences.

I was looking at the U last as well, as I read it was more accommodating with the instep but may be too narrow at the toe. If you have experience with both, your learned opinion would be most welcome.

Thanks for that. Very helpful. I have AS Armfield (109 last) and the Moore (724). I do find the Moores fit me well - especially with a high instep. But the F last also looks good, from images anyway.

I've been looking at the F last recently. How rounded/bulbous is the toe in real life. It looks a little rounded but not too much, a little chiselled but not too much. I'd be interested in your perspective.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good quality brownish chino fabric? I'm thinking about something for a casual work environment.

Yep, that sounds familiar. I have now stopped wearing a tie though. So what are the CM peeps wearing in the office these days?

Half the staff at my office look like they have just finished cleaning out the garage on the weekend. As for shoes, I fear we are but a few moments away from seeing Crocs. It's truly woeful.
