    Crazy for Julian Boots!

I am in love! Julian boots are what I have been looking for and I didnt know it. They are the answer to the "semi-dress" boot! Not too much boot or too much shoe in these, just right like goldy lox says. Viberg, alden, whites, thursday, and wolverine (although i love the (better made)LTD...

eBay, they still come up on there. I dont think the poor QC ones are worth it, but the good ones definitely $500+

Wolverine 1000 mile 744 LTD Boots

As you can see, this was one of my favorite pairs of shell cordovan boots on the market. There are four pairs in the pictures, one 9.5D and three 10D pairs in various stages of their lives. I still own the two better looking 10D pairs. I learned over the year I wore the 9.5D pair that shell...

Why all the hate for wholecuts?

Wholecuts generally aren't classically formal, but that wasn't the OPs question. Acceptability not only depends on the actual look of the shoe, but also the social acceptance of fashion rule "disobedience". They are certainly fashion forward, so If you are going to do them do them right. Cap...

Stretching New Boots: Can it Be Done, or Will I Mess Them Up?

Stretching depends a lot on the leather and construction. The perfect example is a pair of soft belly leather loafers vs. shell cordovan boots; the first will stretch a ton the second hardly at all. If you do return them, you will at least get some money back. A cobbler will charge $20 or so to...

What happened to Valentino's Marlboro Classics???

Definitely down market. In 2010 they were beside shops like Gucci, Prada, and Louis Vuitton. The materials were better and occasionally you would see exotic leathers and skins etc. Now it looks like almost completely cotton with nothing the least bit creative.

What happened to Valentino's Marlboro Classics???

WTF happened to my favorite brand, Marlboro Classics??? I lived in Europe '09-'11 and bought many things from them: linen shorts and pants, cashmere, silk, awesome Sport coats and leather coats! On my vacation to Rome; I went back and EVERYTHING is changed: the store location, layout, decor...

I just checked their website and noticed a 6% increase in price. Any reason for this/is this a normal yearly thing?

    People who hate Berluti

Reguardless of company origin, I consider Berluti Italian styling through and through. They are the best at what they do; which is not classic black oxfords (John lobb) but is the Italian patina slim sole whole cut.

    Excessive Toe Wear, Toe Tap?

Two years later, and it looks like no one responded... What did you end up doing? Toe taps, steel plates, tapy, or nothing? I know this is one of those classic questions. It depends on how you personally walk, how the shoe is constructed, walking conditions, whether the shoe is brand-new or...

Saphir Shoe Care Reviews & Experimenting on Berluti Loafer with pics, Renovatuer, Renomat, & more

I don't know if a "softer touch/less Renomat" would make the color hold faster. What I describe above would definitely control the process much better. I am positive that most of the color loss is due to the patina coloring Berluti uses. I am willing to bet a very nice solid color shoe...

Saphir Shoe Care Reviews & Experimenting on Berluti Loafer with pics, Renovatuer, Renomat, & more

The Renomat seams to disolve the first little layer of wax. It then gets really gooey. If you I wanted to use it again I would use a large old rag (specifically a rough old towel) and most the bottle of Renomat. I would get it dissolving then Use a clean or rather just dry section to wipe away...

Saphir Shoe Care Reviews & Experimenting on Berluti Loafer with pics, Renovatuer, Renomat, & more

Hello All! I have been reading and lurking on SF for a few years now. I thought I would finally post some pics and Saphir reviews for all to see. I picked up an old pair of Berluti whole-cut loafers online a while back and had fun experimenting with them. I tested out many different shoe care...
