    Charles Tyrwhitt Reviews and Fitting

To answer the first question shrinkage has never been a problem. As far as which shirts I like I find their thinner poplins very wrinkle prone so I am not keen but some of the patterned ones have been great (the fabric used in the plain shirts seems to wrinkle more). Twill are awesome and...

    Charles Tyrwhitt Reviews and Fitting

I have one of their sportcoats and I think it was pretty decent value for the money. They are cut slim (I went for the 46R instead of my usual 44L) but the tails are a nice classic length and the quality wasn't bad at all.

    Charles Tyrwhitt Reviews and Fitting

I wear them and love them as I am 6'3" and the tails are long enough for a tall guy. Their slim shirt guide is way off (they said XXL for me and it was too big). I have a 44 chest and weigh 220lbs and an XL is perfect on me - I would say you are a large and I would guess a 42 is about that...

"Eaton's of Canada" Shoes -- what do you know about this brand?

Eaton's was our Macy's - the shoes would have potentially been as low as $50 or as high as $150 now I would guess.

NEW MEMBER INQUIRIES & QUICK QUESTIONS- CLASSIC MENSWEAR: WK OF APR 27, 2015

I have the Frank and Oak one which hits that level when on sale. It's pretty good but on the light side - certainly not for a really cold day.

HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part IV (starting May 2014)

Here is what we did (we both can get out of control). All of the money goes into a pot. Periodically (currently my pay day as she is home with the kids and therefore unwaged) we take what is left and split it. No questions asked on how you spend it - it is personal surplus and therefore yours...

Good Natured Advice Thread (improving a business wardrobe)

I'm Canadian and I don't wear a parka unless doing an outdoor activity (skiing, playing with kids etc). We just went though a week of -25C and I wore a Jcrew peacoat with Thinsulate and it was fine. Before I got it I wore a Gloverall and it was also good in all temperatures. I will never buy a...

What do you wear in cold office??

I work in an office where there is a 5-10 degree Celsius difference between my desk and the meeting rooms depending on time of day so I frequently leave jackets and sweaters that I needed in the morning at my desk in the afternoon. I wear chunky shawl collar cardigans when I do not have a...

    black or navy blue peacoat?

Dark haired guys look great in black - I personally look terrible (sandy hair, pale European skin). I think much of the aversion to black comes from people who (like me) look terrible in it. By all means go for it.

"What I'm Selling on eBay" - member auctions

Shame you use the global shipping program @Koala-T - the $82.96 in import charges almost doubles your current price for these. Just be aware that we don't pay anything close to what this program charges and frequently do not pay if it is under a trade agreement.

Buying and Selling on eBay: Tips, Tricks, Problems & Questions

That is correct- they ship it to a local place and then remail it to you from there. The Global shipping program however is the biggest scam for Ebay ever - the charges are usually massively higher than you would pay if it was sent by the USPS. I suspect you are losing a lot of sales to it as...

Surviving summer working a job that requires a suit

I sweat like crazy and the only solution I have found is a second shirt. Wear a polo until you get into the office then duck into the washroom and put on a fresh shirt. Carry your jacket over your arm or better yet lightly folded in a bag. I cycle to work and change my entire outfit when I arrive.

Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread - reviews, pictures, sizing, etc...

+1 my strands in 11D are a little tight but I have other shoes from them in 11D that were fine.

Trying to figure out how to up-dress in my current work environment

The advice here is pretty good (I have the same work environment). I found that shoes are an easy upgrade - they don't threaten anybody except for black captoes (which I still wear sometimes) You also need to think about looking your best. I am a bit bigger around the middle too and I find...

    2013 Clothing Insights & 2014 Clothing Plans

I suspect your tastes are way more developed than mine but for what it is worth I got a decent suit from Peter Parvez in Toronto last year. First bespoke garment though so I suspect I am easier to please.

    2013 Clothing Insights & 2014 Clothing Plans

2013 was a year to try and figure out what my real workhorses were going to be. In 2012 I did a wardrobe reboot and started with a lot of thrifted used stuff which turned out to be a good idea as a lot of what I loved then is in the thrift pile now. What I learned -I will always like denim so...
