I didn't treat them with anything. I just wore them as is for a good period of time and then just brushed and conditioned them with Bick4. I didn't end up with any salt stains either!- Deusis

Chromexcel is a fairly good comparison but this is fully vegetable tanned so no chrome is used. It has a tighter grain as it is Horsebutt. The Horsebutt contains the shell cordovan portion of the hide so it is a bit more firm than your typical Chromexcel Steerhide. Creasing should be might...- Deusis

Color 4 can have a lot of variation on the end color. I have many shells of Color 4 that are close to this color. It is a few shades lighter than Color 8.
