Sorry for the slow response. I wear the same size in both,12E. Now the snugness is far less noticeable then when they were new. Even if the RL's feel a little tight on first putting them on for the day, after 15 minutes it's completely unnoticeable, maybe due to the leather warming and...- frogwash

I have the RL Saunders and they have the leather insole, not the Poron. Also, the AE RL's are most often compared to AE's Independence line as far as the quality of the leather goes, though I don't have any of these to compare them too. That seems completely normal to me. All my shoes crease much more than that, it's one of the things I enjoy about leather footwear--its "personality". Also, there's always variation between the creases between my left and right shoes, they never match exactly. If anything is abnormal at...- frogwash

I don't think so. I think a big part of the sizing depends on your specific foot shape, I wear the same size in 4, 5 and 8 lasts: 12E. They all fit me very well and they're almost all balmorals. A couple of pairs are a little looser than others, but the looser ones are the 5-lasted. I...- frogwash

The extra $100 is only on seconds, that's why it's listed at the Shoebank and outlets page and not on AE's front page. Also, I think the extra $100 is applicable on all the independence Collection seconds at all the outlets as Jay, in Charleston, let me know about it too. $279 is a great deal.- frogwash

I second this, I have one of their double ring belts in chestnut, (the closest to AE's walnut). Very nice quality and looks like it'll last forever. Alan also did special make-up for me in 1 3/8". I'm aware hippie-belts probably shouldn't ought be worn with dress slacks, but it looks so nice...- frogwash
