Oh yes, definitely pre-owned. In good shape, but far from new.

Edward Green Appreciation: Pictures, Info, and Where to Buy

So I've just acquired my first pair of EG's (from Ebay I confess). They are in great shape, look great... but smell terrible. For a few days I wondered if somehow my baby's dirty diaper made its way into my office. Eventually I realized it was the shoe! I can't imagine has anything to do with...

HELP! My suit coat was saturated in (clean or unused) motor oil. Don't ask.... This is not a spot stain, about one quarter of the coat was affected. The good news I guess is that not too much oil was spilled in trunk of my 97 Accord. Any chance of redeeming this? What should I do?

Ok, I tried this on the general Q&A but no love, and I thought, why not try on my favorite thread... To respect the thread and convey my true love of AE, I have crossed out shows that I might or might not actually have, and put the closest AE model that an AE-fan purer than myself would have...

I need to purge three pairs of shoes from this lineup (guess why). I'm having trouble so coming to you for some wise insight. At work I am generally business casual, wear a suit (either navy or charcoal) occasionally. Jeans and cords on weekends. Black Captoe Bal (AE Park Ave) Merlot...

High quality long-lasting black dress belt - custom?

Yes but are the Narragansett and Equus belts dress belts (suits and slacks) or more casual (for jeans and chinos)?

Why is there no comments section at putthison.com? I suspect PTO is considered for beginners and so many SF readers don't look at it. But I suspect many do. I like a lot of what those guys say, however I often am curious what others think about it. And I have no *real* friends who care...

That is a lovely shoe and I think quite versatile. That said, I think a darker brown would be more versatile. I think the broguing makes it work well with suits and sport coats. Depending on your budget and definition of "gradually", you might be better of getting two less expensive shoes...

Since no one has pointed it out explicitly: be sure to get shoes with closed lacing, that is an oxford/balmoral (as the others have pictured) rather than a derby/blucher (what you have pictured).

One effective way I've controlled this "problem" was getting married. 3+ years into it I still sometimes think, man I should've bought these before... :)

Right but in playing the ebay game i've come across several lovely shell pairs (that don't fit me). This pair is somehow different, shinier, plasticky-ier. wondering if there's some extra finish on the shell that i should try to remove. I'll see if I can capture it with pictures when I get back...

Difficult for me to imagine a church wedding where this wouldn't be appropriate. If you want to show a little disrespect (for not getting invited to the party), maybe wear the navy suit coat with khakis and black shoes.

Saqer, Congrats on the marriage! You should move fast on this, as tailoring takes time. I don't know anything about Vinci but based on a quick look at the website I'm skeptical. For $500 you might be in Suit Supply range. Check out Put This On's Black Tie Guide...

I acquired some shell cordovan vintage Florsheims in very good shape, however the shoes are very shiny, almost looking plasticky. They are v-cleat Royal Imperials and clearly leather. Any ideas on why this is, how to fix it?

Nice Florsheims! I have a pair, also ebayed, that are shell and in good shape, however they are very shiny, almost plasticky looking. Any suggestions for why this might be the case and what to do? They are vintage florsheim imperial (still have v cleat).

John Black, Hopefully you'll get more feedback from others. Go with a dark tie, preferably with a different texture than the suit. A burgundy grenadine tie is very popular here (and looks good). Alternatively, consider some shade of blue (that is noticeably different than the suit's color)...

HELP - Allen Edmonds for Work (style and colour advice needed)

I've heard it said that burgundy is best in shell, and with calf it is better to stick to brown, black, or walnut. I take it some of you disagree? It'd be good to know as I have shied away from burgundy for this reason!
