Them jackets are gorgeous. Glad to give advice; even gladder that it came in useful for ya, and it wasn’t my usual “just a bunch of hot air blown into the internet aether” routine.

    HERE AND NOW

Buzz Rickson, etc. are incredible. I have the Real McCoy’s(Ja.po repro company similar to Buzz) version of the MA-1 in sage. The batting is a wool/cotton mixture— I can only wear it on the coldest of days. Similarly-cropped, era-correct pattern. They sometimes DO make ‘em like they...

We had a paper bag full of old Illustrated London News… …at the bottom of a lake!

Pretty slick. Definitely more of a 1980s Brest, France RAC look though. Conjures images of Brutal Combat.

Absolutely. It tends to migrate a bit, so checking it every couple minutes and wiping the excess off the edges is definitely a good idea. Like you said, though, it does hold up surprisingly well. Shoe Goo II, Electric Boogaloo

We use a product called “Shoe Goo”. Been using it repair DM’s, etc for as as long as I can remember.

    HERE AND NOW

Found some sportswear items from Left Hand and ST-95(Christopher Raeburn’s relaunched Massimo Osti’s cult labels) on the cheap, as well as a bit of 7L. Mostly overshirts, layering, some outerwear, all stuff good for travel, lots of zips and pockets. All very Massimo Osti inspired, but...

Yeah like I mentioned, mine is so incredibly warm that it’s only suited for extremely frigid days and/or my son’s long ice hockey tournaments. Can’t imagine weather that comes anywhere close to cold enough in Florida! Going to wear mine up in Quebec in a couple weeks, as it is brutally cold...

I have one; got it off Rodders. But seriously, same color as Del’s but yeah more the classic Marlboro Man/skinhead style one. You DO NOT wash them. They’re cleaned via a dry cleaning service’s leather and suede service. To be honest, I see old photos of skins wearing sheepies indoors, or...

So THAT’S what they mean by “Sprezzatura” 🤣

I like mine. Good for chopping wood, changing tires, puttering around a cold garage, etc. @Thin White Duke I know you’ve lived in America for a while, but it’s definitely a cultural perception thing. To me, and to a lot of people who see me wearing one, a donkey jacket has a touch of class...

Not 100% sure, Nik, but I have a donkey jacket from them. It says Made In England on the tags(Baracuta-style hang loop and the tag on the inside seam).

I’ve never bought bowling shoes from them, but if they are anything like their cord shoes and plimsols, they’re probably of good quality.

That’s pretty nice actually. I dig the non-leather collar— but defo understand one would need to wear a collared shirt in order to not stain the suede.

That us definitely my problem with them. The old “slim-fit” ones were better-fitting. Yes, the new ones are machine washable, but that doesn’t take away from the weird fit. My gripes with newer Baracutas: -sleeves are too skinny and bunch up on my forearms -cuffs are too loose so they hang...

A new Baracuta is going to cost you some serious money. I’d definitely shop around before dropping rude dough on a new Baracuta. Having taken the plunge before, I believe they’re insanely overpriced. Ralph Lauren, Gant, and Real Hoxton are more economical options.

I had a Merc Harrington about 26-27 years ago, I wore a size Medium then, as I would now if I still had it(I’m 5’10”, 175 lbs/12.5 st), and tried on a Relco but honestly forget how it fit, but I didn’t get it, for what it’s worth. Also, are you talking newer or vintage Baracutas? They fit...

Exactly what I was thinking. They look as though they’ve been in a root cellar for a year.

    That’s a pretty cool excerpt.
