    Manhattan Sales Alert!!

The Chelsea Housing Works Thrift store on 17th street between 7th and 6th ave has a black slim fitting Agnes b broad peak lapel tuxedo in size 50. It's new with tags, a leftover from their Fashion for Action event. Last I checked it was $350. Original sticker price is $850 or something. It's...

    Down Jacket For Winter?

If you're interested in functional pieces consider Millet.fr or Feathered Friends or Rab's Neutrino Endurance, which I own and happy to report its toasty warm. Do you think the Neutrino is fine for daily commuting in the city in the winter, it seems like it's for climbing. Around here we take...

Hardball's Chris Matthews implies cutaway collars are aristocratic

I'm seeing too many spread collars out there. Americans, especially men treat fashion like a uniform, they throw on clothes because someone else tells them. The fact that the spread collar is in Matthew's lexicon means it an overused tool like the denim jean.

I am not fit (a confession)

Train for a triathlon. Set your race date say six to seven months from now. Pick a warm weather fun destination for the race like South Beach. If you are competitive look at the race results from last year and mark the times of the guys in your age group. Decide you want to finish in the top 25...

Style advice for a Midnight Blue "Cotton" Tuxedo

I think without the bow tie you would look better but if yuo do wear one, I would get one a bit bigger than normal, a "proper" one might not work with the outfit. Make sure the boots are well shined. I respect creative vision, you have that. The look above will work for this event but I...

Style advice for a Midnight Blue "Cotton" Tuxedo

I think without the bow tie you would look better but if yuo do wear one, I would get one a bit bigger than normal, a "proper" one might not work with the outfit. Make sure the boots are well shined. Interesting, like a velvet bow tie? The lapel on this jacket is grosgrain at least it looks...

Style advice for a Midnight Blue "Cotton" Tuxedo

Are you kidding? When it comes to whankers, Cruise is the Word made flesh. Anyway, I'll see your Cruise and raise you a Pitt. It's interesting to compare his current black tie rig to the way he dressed in his "ironic" phase. I fold, it is interesting to compare the two phases of Pitt in...

Style advice for a Midnight Blue "Cotton" Tuxedo

where does one acquire a midnight blue cotton tuxedo? sounds interesting (seriously)... Adam Lippes, Fall 2008. Dsquared has cotton silk tuxedo blazers but not with matching pants .

Style advice for a Midnight Blue "Cotton" Tuxedo

Since it's a movie premier, I'm sure many people will go for the shudder Oscars look. I remind you, however, that for quite some time now, the coolest looking people on the carpet have been dressed in proper black tie whereas the ironic, trendy people in tuxedo jackets with FIH ties, flip flops...

Style advice for a Midnight Blue "Cotton" Tuxedo

If this is the case, you should be polite and honor the host's desires by wearing classic black tie. With black shoes my decision becomes clearer- the plain navy tie from Ken Wang over the dotted one.

Style advice for a Midnight Blue "Cotton" Tuxedo

yes, go "rock and roll" (sounds corny, I know). The cotton tux is not really a tux so don't try and make it one. Wear some cool shirt open collared and nice shoes, maybe some shiny black boots. Maybe a pocket square. Not at all, I can see the look you are suggesting.

who the hell makes a cotton tuxedo OP, either wear a nice dark suit (nice meaning made of wool) or, if you are going to dress ironically, wear the cotton tux but in a non formal manner. Meaning without a tie?
