Anyone have any experience with the Solbiati jacquard book? https://www.solbiati.it/en/fabrics/jaquard.html Wondering if it could work for a pair of pants and a shirt-jacket.

Vass Alt Wien P2 bordeaux museum calf 43.5 worn once

This is a pair of Vass Alt Wien derbies on the P2 last, size 43.5, in bordeaux museum calf with a single sole. They have been worn once—a walk around the block to try them out. I've decided the fit won't work for me (I have zero luck with finding off the rack shoes that fit), which is why I am...

    The Bespoke Shoes Thread

Great point on the color. I’m interested in a pair of boots that aren’t too delicate and are good for walking, but that still look urban, not country. The subtlety of a tonally-matched thread would fit better with the zip, I think. I haven’t decided on the leather yet, but we’ve talked about...

    The Bespoke Shoes Thread

Any thoughts on this design for a bespoke zipper boot? I wonder whether a Norwegian welt is a good match with the sleekness of a zipper.

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

I’ve got a navy double breasted suit in the works using this 370g Drapers 4-ply https://drapersitaly.it/us-en/collection/18059/. Hoping I’ll get a lot of use out of it, concerned it’ll be neither here nor there—a classic business suit that’s a little too attention grabbing because it’s a DB, a...

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

I disliked a shirt that I had made using the Permanent Style “lighter denim”. The fading was so extreme around the seams and wear points as to seem artificial, reminiscent of a pair of Dsquared jeans or something like that.

    Dalmo Cashmere Knitwear

Has anyone else had any quality issues with their purchases from Dalmo? I ordered a hand-knit 8-ply cashmere turtleneck in Loro Piana from them last year, and it arrived late, so I wasn't able to wear it much before it started to get warm. Now that it's gotten cold again, I've had a chance...

I like it too. This place—https://ftlonesome.com/—does custom chainstitch embroidery. I've thought about sending something there, but haven't done it yet.

Hm, my heavy flannel trousers aren’t particularly soft and they’re unlined, but I don’t find them itchy—nothing like a fresco or a mohair. It might be nice to line them, though, for added warmth. A long time ago I had a pair of fully lined tan heavy cotton twill trousers from the first season of...

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

At air conditioned temperatures, I find heavy trouser fabrics (500+ gram fox flannels, 600 gram cavalry twills) just as comfortable as lighter ones. The difference is that those heavy trousers remain comfortable outdoors if it's cold.

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

I have one that's maybe 6 or 7 years old, and it might be my most worn piece of tailored clothing. Great for dates, fine during the day. It actually works as a casual suit—all the benefits of a suit without feeling particularly formal. I found it easy to wear, easier than I think I'd find it if...
