    I find ridgeway softer but the balance a little worse to begin with than dainite. I find grip better on the ridgeway than dainite. Aesthetically I prefer the profile of dainite.

    Ongoing thing really, handbag companies just so big they demand best stuff. Quality obviously a little spurious with stuff like calf as it can just refer to skin imperfections etc. For me just has a little less lustre and suppleness these days.     By looking at it, feeling it, and as other posters the mentioned suppleness and shine/ how it takes a finish. also speaking to the clickers, who actually cut this stuff who themselves have repeated this.

    There's a long way between lower quality and debased haha. The shoes are well made with great leather still, its just not what it was, equally its true of crockett, the hide quality they have with calf is a lot worse than it was etc.

    I visit the factory prob 7-8 times a year for many years, as well as the retail store. Leather quality is way way down, but this is across the industry, they just can't compete with the larger companies buying top quality hides + supply side is lower in that respect. QC is down imo the stuff...
