Agreed, they are dead comfortable. I have it in black too. It’s just a design I don’t get much opportunity to wear with everything else I own.

My Bradford’s are the first pair of proper GYW shoes I bought. More than 10 years old now. Mine have become a deep reddish brown, probably from the use of Saphir’s “Cordovan” coloured cream. Beautiful shoes!

Interesting feedback, which in many ways matches mine but goes to prove how personal these things are. Compared to 365 I find the 335 feels less well fitted across the instep and vamp - too voluminous, and so I need thicker socks and have tried out tongue pads to take up the volume. Compare...

The short version is I find I’m the same size in both 335 and 365. I personally find 365 more comfortable, hence the reason I favour Islay as much as I do. 335 was one I took some time getting right. I size down 0.5 from my normal for both 335 and 365 vs what I’d say is my normal size 9.

I echo this view about getting things closed out if the opportunity is there with the 6 participants level. I’ve a big preference for the half-bellows tongue. Having it already on my black pair I am keen for the same on these. Let’s get going…

Can only comment on the Rannoch model. I'd describe the sizing as on the generous side vs all my other footwear of the "same size", they very comfortably take the thickest of socks.

    Crockett & Jones MTO Central

My view would be if you have 8 participants ready to go, I’d move with that sooner than hang around looking to find 4 that may never materialise. The fresher GMTO’s are easier to wrap up. If we leave it hanging it’s easy to lose 1 or 2 of the ones you’ve got and suddenly it can’t proceed at all.

Lindrick I get, I’m wearing a black pair today on DL, but with the standard storm welt. Lindrick are that bit sleeker a design. I am very intrigued to see what an Islay might look like trying to pull off a more refined aesthetic.

Out of interest, does anyone have any pictures to share of an Islay running Double Leather soles or Flat Welt? I’d be interested to see the aesthetics…

With the right amount of GMTO participants, the price should be comparable with the stock DB Grain Islay. I’m expecting £590 plus a £50 addition for the half-bellows tongue, so £640 (inc UK VAT)

I think sticking with a more standard stock spec will make securing the interest of participants that bit easier. Welt as per the photos you posted should suit the majority, and I would stick with the standard Islay make-up of 4 eyelets and 5 speed-hooks. From what I can see we already have 4...

** Quintessential Crockett & Jones Thread ** (reviews, quality, etc...)

It’s an interesting observation, and one I’d agree that they are more at the reddish side than the stock dark brown. My Islay that are the same leather and are nearly 10 years old are now a lighter shade too. Similar observation with the Tan Scotch Grain, but I can trace the reason for those...
