the whiskey unlined lhs for bb is a unicorn, basically impossible to find. bb no longer sells alden and nobody else can get unlined shell LHS anymore. only a couple shops even could get unlined front LHS (frans boone, Beams Japan, lakota house) and i'm not sure they'll do them again either.- JSO1

Those black cap toes are definitely on Modified. They have unlined quarters and a gusset tongue. That is the only pattern like that that Alden will do and it is exclusive to Anatomica. They will not do it on any other last. The pair that @Shawnc posted is from a more recent run. The older runs...- JSO1

You can get 99% of that oxidation off with a toothbrush and some mild cleansers. Hopefully it won’t take off the paint, but still. FWIW, my Edward Green boots suffer from the same issues and they are much younger. Nice boots but why convert the double leather? It’s such a fantastic sole.- JSO1

Why do you think you need blind eyelets? Is this another one of those things that people do because “the internet” says it’s better (e.g., converting 270 welted boots to a 360 welt) but is in reality just a waste of money? Enjoy the boots, they’ll be fine. Now, if you want visible/exposed...- JSO1

I disagree. Alden intentionally does not use eyelets (internal or backing-only) for shell unless an exposed eyelet is specified. It is a feature, not a bug, and certainly not done to pinch pennies. My understanding of why they do this is is because even internal blind eyelets would leave a...- JSO1
