Yeah, I tend to agree on friction being the trigger. But the root of the problem probably lies in the dyeing/grain pressing process/the leather dye used by Horween. I happened to have quite a few pairs from Carmina and shoes made with scrotchgrain leather from other shoemakers. This chukka ...- humphery

Mr. Six, I've got the same hatchgrain chukka as yours. Similar discoloration issue though probably less prominent than your pairs. I've tried to cover it up with some reddish brown shoe cream applied over the area followed by a thin layer of neutral polish. It turned out to be quite acceptable...- humphery

The standard cognac double monk and its maidan voyage after polishing the toe cap and the strap. Very fine grain and smooth calf leather, it didn't take much elbow grease for a mirror shine. Carmina FTW!- humphery

I've the Loake Embankment (025 last) loafer. Like your Eton, they're at least 1 full size smaller than what one would consider true-to-size( i.e. 8F loafter last = 7F non-loafer last) According to Herring's description, they're made deliberately so, probably to minimize heel slip after breakin...- humphery

Sleek & sharp! The aesthetic as to how the toe cap shape always remind me of the Ferrari Enzo. It'd be perfect if they can trim down the outsole a bit and skip the eyelets though- humphery

Stupid me! can't think of BE having a tumblr presence there, thanks a lot! End up finding quite a few pictures of those navy blue pairs. Interestingly, some are plain navy in color while others seem to have some sort of antiquing with black dye around the toe area and near the outsole. maybe...- humphery
